2 springs ago I decided to expand my number my number of hives and do some re queening on several older. Ordered 4 packages.
I set up 2 hives in preparation for the bees. Both hive setups were 2 deeps with mixed built out and blank plastic frames.
When packages arrived I removes queens from 2 of them and used those queens to re queen 2 hives.
I put two packages in each of the double deeps and queened each 1.
The results have been great both years. ( I did the same thing this year.) all 4 of these hive have produced over( well over) 100lbs of honey in first year.
I like the results.

Where did you get the queens for the packages of bees? Also, do I understand correctly, you put 2 packages in a double deep? Did you have drawn or undrawn comb in those deeps?

Jen each package of bees come with a queen. I simply used 2 off those queens to re queen other hives.
50 /50 mix of built out frames and bare frames.
