That's a great education tool! I think in Kansas it would be April. Right now we have dandelions, henbit, and creeping charlie in bloom.
There is an educational program here that is drawing attention. It's a Callery Pear buy back program. Different organizations have joined forces to offer a native tree for a picture of a Callery pear you have cut down. They are so invasive and offer nothing for birds and insects. Our strong winds break the limbs and split trees.
I believe my next door neighbor planted 2 of them last fall. :'(

We had a Bradford pear at our last house, and there were always bees all over it. I've never understood it. Everyone always talks about how they are garbage trees that don't produce any nectar or pollen, but that certainly wasn't the case with ours. It's a mystery I've never been able to solve.

hrm.. so I was wondering when JUNE first arrived who was cutting the HAY those lawns turned into? Late may I have to mow every three days.. If i wait SIX it takes me twice as long to deal with the VAST amount of grass that has grown.... god forbid I wait more than six.. I have to hook up the bushhog!

Raise your blade, Lazy. I've mowed over baby rabbits before and never even uncovered them.

Yeah I do, but this was a cow pasture before I built this house, and the grass grows about a FOOT per week when were getting rain. it is truly insane...
