good evening all!

today was a little rainy and cloudy, sort of needed a day like today!  daytime temps have been pretty mild, and nightime temps cooler, and low humidity.... unusual for us this time of the year, i love it!  cool pic, we saw lots of sunflower fields this year traversing across north dakota and back:

We're expecting another polar vortex to come through tomorrow.  Wednesday and Thursday morning may get down into the 50s.  I plan on a big big day on Wednesday.

Whew... long day.. Got the 670 Mini Mo pulled apart and split, the crank is out and ready to be taken to the machine shop..    Tomorrow the engine gets yanked out of my truck and the replacement installed. If all goes well I will drive it home when I am done tomorrow afternoon.  Parts to order for the tractor. Then I will need to get the wood to build the stalls for the horses.. Parts should be in for the MM by then and I can get it put back together. THEN I can start cutting wood for winter heat..  One project after another with no end in sight..  Time for a change.

Good Evening ~ Lots of rain here as well, it just results in 20 more fires ~ siiiigh

On the up note tho there is a nice flow going on here in our area, been told it's tar weed and star thistle. My bees are zooming. Let 's just hope the hummer feeders have gone dry for the rest of the season  :eusa_doh:

If there is a good flow they should ignore the hummer feeders while the flow lasts.

a quarter to 5 and I have given up for the day..   Rained all morning, we got another 3/4 inch according to my rain gauge.  Looks like the fall flow is going to shape up very nicely. Goldenrod IS starting to bloom. I see yellow!  Still have partridge pea, Culver’s Root, Milkvetch, Prarie sage just starting, Zizia, Oxeye sunflower, LOTS of coneflowers, prairie flox, Dames Rocket, Spiderwort that is starting to fade, Hoary Vervain, Bergamot (Beebalm), Ironweed, Prairie blazing star, and Asters.  Just what I have seen along the roadsides and fields coming and going from the hives.   Most years these flowers struggle, this year they are in colorful profusion due to the rain we have received in exactly perfect amounts.
I packed up all the used frames I have and spent the morning cleaning them and putting new wax in them. Spent the afternoon cutting brush in the front ditch and piling it in prep to burn the piles. HUMID out, but thats OK, I was sweaty and dirty when the wife pulled up so she is quite content..   It's only a bad day If I am taking a break when she arrives.   :P

It's 3:15 here, I just got home from work, taking a break. Then I will start an early weekend with inspections and marking which hives have what and where. I've been marking on the hive lid instead of paper. Paper keeps blowing up and all over the yard and I don't know what my notes say per two weeks ago anyway. I'll be adding one more medium to all in effort to get as much pulled wax as possible for next season. Hubby and I will be making two more mediums and two more feeder boxes, that should be it for the year. Assembling more medium frames/foundation, that's my job. Got my hammer, nails and glue in place, need a bud or vodka tonic, MeTv if hubby's helping, and prob Pawn Stars if I'm on my own. Love days like this  :) 8)

good evenin~

like scott, looks like the fall flow will be good here, might have to put an extra super on top to catch it. if not capped can always feed back. we have an appointment with the usda on friday.  we have been given a grant to plant native plant species for honey bees only.  jen, good time of the year to be evaluating what your hives need!
supposed to pour down rain here tonight, with high temps and high humidity tomorrow.......oh i dislike the humidity.....

anyone else getting the early sore throat/cold/fever/chest/ fatigue/aches crud yet?   we have both suffered from this junk for the past 2 weeks.
