Hey Yeah! What is it about grass that the bees like. I see them land a the bottom of a blade, work their way up and over and down the other side?

nice pic jen, i am with perry on the green grass...... :D

"What is it about grass that the bees like. I see them land a the bottom of a blade, work their way up and over and down the other side?"

dew=moisture=water.....bees collect water jen, they get it from wherever.
on grass though if they are stumbling around and falling down off the blades and can't fly a different story.  i think what you are describing is water collection...... ;)

Mother Nature is just teasing us right now.  Here is later in the week:

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of rain in the evening. Much colder. Lows in the lower to mid 20s. Northwest winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.

Thursday: Sunny. Highs in the lower to mid 40s.

Thursday Night: Clear. Lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s.    :o

Some posters talked about henbit. Others talked about dead nettle. Had me totally confused, so I called on my friend Google. He knows everything. He said they are the same thing, just different names. Now I know what folks on here are talking about.  ;D

This henbit reminds me of Vetch here in our area. And Vetch is my most most fav honey, it's sweet and buttery.

Yesterday (Friday) I mowed my lawn for the first time this season---Picked  the last of the Anemones and put them in a vase inside.  Cut down the last of the seeding stalks.  I first planted Anemones about 8 years ago, but by letting them go to seed every year, they've been spreading gradually over the entire front lawn.  If I remember, next year I'll try to post a picture of them in full bloom (usually in February).

I've always wanted to plant johnny jump ups and grape hyacinch in my front lawn ~

I'm going to have to disagree with that one. I think henbit is different than dead nettle. Dead nettle leaves are variegated, heart shaped. Henbit leaves look a little like parsley to me. I haven't seen any dead nettle around me but loads of henbit.

Here is a picture I found that compares.

There are plenty of them in my yard---I have never seen a bee visitng their flowers (contrary to what's written in the Wiki-pedia article).
