well they are starting to shape up. both hives have started working on the deep frames and the first hive the queen is back to laying eggs in the medium frames and there is brood in all stages of development..
and I know what they've been doing with that old wax from the medium frames they're reworking the foundation into drone comb. Lol repurposing plasticell is difficult not impossible but evidently more work than they wanted to put out for the moment..but it's nice to say they're starting to expand beyond five frames, about time. who can find the Queen there's actually two photographs with her in it, only one is all of her lol

I love the empty cell in the middle picture! It's like no one wants to claim any responsibility for it. :)

not sure why that picture clarity lax so much when you expand it but believe it or not there are eggs and every one of them cells aside from where they just chewed their way out of the cell you can see the rough edges

It doesn't take much to get the new kids excited here! good to hear that they are building up.

it is interesting, I am still feeding syrup to all the bees. despite the blossoming trees, and there are more than a few...they are readily taking in the syrup.

tecumseh....
quite often in mating nucs I use this as a good sign (without looking any further) that I have a new queen freshly mated who is fixing to lay pretty quickly. These small areas often have a dull polished look to them and you might swear that 'the girls' have some kind of sign posted saying no trespassing and messin' up our good work. Quite often these areas do almost look circular.

Barry... My bees will suck down a quart of syrup per hive every other day, no matter how good the flow is.. I VERY nearly learned the hard way that they had plugged the entire brood box with syrup. not one hive, but Five at that time had ALL done exactly the same thing.. had I not caught it when I did, I expect they would have absconded.. so check to make sure they are not putting that syrup in the brood chamber! if they are not, your good!

Lol LazyBkpr what you know they need all that thin syrup to manufacturer wax when they swarm lol
