Very nice brood pattern. Looks like the frame was damaged in the past and they rebuilt it as drone cells. May be where it was bumped or where a supercedure cell was built.

Yep, ultra breeze. Bought it this winter with Honey money. I was in it almost all day today. Boy what a difference from other jackets. Could feel the wind right through it.

Worth every penny.

I think you have a defective queen, better send her to me quick like!!

I do see a queen cup on the bottom of the comb, just bee sure she has enough room to keep laying or you might end up loosing her.

I wear shorts and short sleeve through mine.  It is a heavier suit but gosh, what a nice breeze!  That was the first thing I noticed.

There is a bee with pink pollen on her legs on the bottom left of the frame and a cell with that color of pollen in the top left of the frame. It is from some floral source that we don't have up here, haven't came across any of that particular shade. Nice frame Nicer Queen for laying it.

I saw several cups like that today in multiple hives. I was wondering if those were the starts of swarm queen cells, or just practice cups kinda like you see on the faces of comb.

Apis, I think the pink is from Henbit. Little small purple flowers.

That brood pattern is top tier, no doubt.  Would love to have every hive looking like that!  :)

Look inside of those queen cups, if they have an egg or larva in them.........well you need to think about doing splits soon.

G3, we did have one hive today that we found 3 cells in but they were a little longer.  They did have royal jelly and a small larva in them.

We searched until we found the queen, removed her and about 4 frames of capped brood then shook a couple frames of nurse bees in there with her. It had about 10 or 12 frames of brood/larva in it. Left all the larva and eggs in big hive.

They are cells that can be used to raise a queen in but if the bees decide it is time to swarm they can use any young larva. They are always in the hive and I always Knock them off. Have no reason or proof that it will decrease the risk of swarming though. but I also seldom go thru every frame in a hive so i probably miss lots but because of our seasons we have only 2 short periods of swarms being issued. middle of May and the mid to end of June.
