Saturday was our annual beekeeping school in Brenham Texas (home to Blue Bell ice cream and ZZ Top < strange combination huh?). The weather was beautiful and the blue bonnets were in full bloom. We had a total of about 550 in attendance with about 70 or 80 bee club member to help put on the show. I think in total me and my assistant (who I started bee keeping about 4 years ago) did full hive inspections to about 250 people. At the end of the show the bee club provide 10 sets of bee gear, bee hives and packages to the apprentice's who applied last year and successfully completed the program.

Sounds great! I haven't seen any signs of bluebonnets up here yet, but hopefully soon!

Sounds like a success story to me. Congrats.

Once again, it was a great school and good learning experience! Unfortunately, we didn't win any of those great door prizes.
I'm sorry I didn't see you there this year tecumseh. I was a little iffy because of the treatments, but I got up Saturday feeling well. I didn't end up that way, but that's part of it. We made it through.
The funny thing is that when we decided to go, I posted it on FB. A friend that I met at the school last year saw it. He had forgotten all about it. When we went to the afternoon session, he got up to get coffee and he & his wife were sitting right next to us. We were all concentrating on the program so much, none of us had noticed each other!

My hats off to you tec for all that you folks do promoting this little thing we all have.
Hey Beeracuda, a funny story as well. At our AGM, my friend Adam Foster Collins (into TBH's, Langs, but very treatment free!!) was there. When they were handing out the door prizes, guess who won a $100 gift certificate donated by.............are you ready for this..............Medivet!

that is funny Perry.
ps... the very first time I went down to Brenham at the urging of a retired school teacher turned beekeeper they had a door prize and it was a small book called something like 'first lesson in beekeeping' and of all things I won the door prize.

That's funny right there!
I can't blame John too much for not noticing who I was. I was wearing a bright yellow mask all day. I had just finished a week of treatment and I wanted to be on the safe side....
