Hived another swarm this afternoon. It was a small one on the ground. I'd never seen a swarm on the ground before. Actually, the dog ( Jake) found it. I wouldn't have seen it if he hadn't.
I'm sure this was one of mine. I went thru some of my hives Sunday and it looks like I had a few swarms last week that I missed. This was probably a secondary swarm. I didn't see a queen, but it was almost dark when they all went in the nuc.

No, I can't sell Jake. Now that he's pointing swarms, he might actually earn his keep.  :)

Reminded me of a story about insects and dogs.  But, first good for Jake!  And you!  I was on patrol last fall and had a call related to bed bugs (yuck!).  Andyway, the exterminator had a bed bug sniffing dog.  I never knew.

Usually Jake only sniffs out something to eat. He'll eat anything me or the wife will. Mangos, cheese, mustard greens, buttermilk......
The wife gave him a fish sammich the other day with tartar sauce on it. He had the worst gas I've ever smelled.
