Title: Building Frames
Post by: Beeracuda on April 05, 2014, 07:38:44 pm
I had planned on building frames today, but it looks like I will have to put it off a day or two...  In the meantime, I thought I would check to see what y'all do.  I bought an 18 gauge combo nailer/stapler and wanted to use staples on the frames.  What length staples work best?  These are the wedge top/grooved bottom frames.

Hey Monty:

1/4" crown staples:

1 1/4" long for the top bar
1" long for the bottom bar
1" long for the ones that go thru the end bars into the top bar.

Titebond III glue on every joint.
Use a 10 frame jig and it goes real fast.

I use 1" everywhere, I don't want to mess around with changing staples in the stapler. I'm bound to forget to switch back anyway.

it seems Perry and I use the same size staples.

ps... i also like to use a bit of glue on both the top bars and bottom bars.
