Title: window screen
Post by: Dunkel on April 22, 2014, 10:21:57 pm
Buddy reminded me of a roll of window screen he had given me.  Looks to be stainless.  Besides using it for screened vents, What else can I use it for?  I thought about whipping up some moving inner covers.  But I thought I would ask here for some Ideas

I keep screen about so I have something to staple over entrances when I move hives/splits etc to the outyard..  It is amazing how desperate you get when you realize you have NO screen!!!!

I'll go into a panic and have to make a run to the hardware store.

If it is Stainless save it for strainers for cappings and honey. If it is aluminum use it for what ever you need screen on. Moving screens, ventilated covers, screened division boards, Bee escape boards...

I built a few feeders for nucs, similar to Miller feeders. I fold a piece of screen in a vee shape and stick in between the boards that the bees are supposed to climb on to get to the feed. You know, where all the drowned bees are. This has almost totally eliminated drowned bees in my feeders.

Great ideas everyone, thanks!  I have six or so frame feeders that are open, Rcannon I will add some to those for the bees to climb up.
