Title: Jen's Swarm #10 -- Good Timing!
Post by: Jen on April 29, 2014, 04:21:05 pm
Just 15 minutes ago I was in the garage taping up the bottoms of my jeans and reaching for my bee shirt when I heard it. I stepped out the garage door and they are sky bound, smaller swarm this time. Real Good Timing cause I'm suited up to reek havoc on this last hive I have to dequeen and requeen.

The Best Part! It's 65 degrees outside and we don't have to do it in the garage. I already have beans and hamhocks in the crocky with cornbread just out of the oven.

Bee retriever Chris has been left a message.

Glad to hear your a survivor.  As for the bees, are these bees coming from the same box every time?  I'm with you Scott, I am glad my bees like staying put.

Taking a break, been de-queening the last hive for 2 hours. It's 4pm. This hive is one deep and one medium. 24 live queen cells, maybe 10 empty cells. Still have to do the shaker box, but at least I'm outside. Even tho this hive swarmed today presumably with a queen. I found one more running around on the bottom of the hive and one of the queen cells that I pulled out hatched right before my eyes.

Blue - 5/6 weeks ago it started with the mother hive, the only one I had. Then over this 5/6 week stretch, the swarms were captured and brought back and hived. Then the swarms were coming from any of the hives at any time. Nuts
