Title: found a soft spot for my jeep
Post by: Riverrat on May 04, 2014, 06:57:08 pm
We are in a drought here making no bottom for the sand on sand bars at the river. Found a soft spot and she sunk fast. You can see the top of the 35 inch tire and I got 6 inches of lift on jeep.

Thats the bad part I was home in the recliner when they called saying a truck was stuck in the sand. I got the jeep out pulled around to hook on to him hence the chain on the back of jeep went to back up and thats when the bottom dropped out

Let's see.... beings I've been married to a 4 wheel driver for 38 years, I might have cut a bunch of branches for under those tires, and lowered the tire pressure down to about 20 pounds. Maybe this could help in the future  ;) 8)

Sounds like you been around the block on four wheeling. Not sure that would have help in this case our lack of rain has takent he moisture out of the sand and in spots there is just no bottom. That and I am not running lockers on my axles. It two jeeps with lockers to get the kid out that was stuck. He had pulled out on the sand bar in a 2 wheel drive pickup with highway tread tires

Are you still stuck?

:) That's what the branches would provide is a floor for grip, but maybe you already know that...  ;) 8)

 ;D
Don't see much sand here..  clay mud is the norm..   Best stuck so far was on a dirt road... perfectly smooth and flat... a wet spot in the road..  just discolored so I goosed Betty to go through it..   The passenger and I nearly went through the windshield as the truck sank instantly.. two trucks couldnt budge it. Had to go get a tractor..
To me, sand looks like the PERFECT medium to get stuck in..  you can lay on it to hook the chain up and brush it off when your done!!
Perfect stuck there RR!!   I like it!!
