Ok, 8 hives set up an a place called Bearskin Farms. Soybeans and cotton as far as the bees can fly.
All planted and in different stages of growth from just starting to bloom to just planted.
This is a place tucked away in a corner along the woods. there is a creek running right behind the hives. They have water within 50 ft.
I just harvested spring wildflower Honey from these hives and they are plum full of bees and the deeps have lots of capped brood.
I think I will just leave the extractor out :D

LoL. No bears.
But is should be called "Mosquito Farms"
It was dark and I had put my veil on just to keep from inhaling mosquitos when I took in a breath. It will be fine during the day.
We will see what happens. This is my first big move to crops. A little worried from everything I read.

Nice looking spot the only problem I can think of is that you don't have another 32 hives to place their with them. Spots like that can support yards with 40 hives in them. An a amazing thing happens when you get a large concentration of bees in one area with lots of forage. They get more competitive. Their is such a large concentration of foragers near to where the hives are that the bees disperse further from the hive quicker. You place X number of hives in an spot lets say 20, the bees will forage a 1/2 mile radius. Increase the number to 40 hive in the same spot and the bees will expand the forage radius to 1 mile. This will increase the are of forage by 4 times even though you have only doubled the number of hives. This will result in the bees revisiting flowers less that have already been visited.
Here is a forage area chart in acres at 1/4 mile radius's.
