Efraim lives well within range of the regular Hamas/Palestinian missiles.  As we know, he is no stranger to sirens and safe rooms.   The long range missiles add more complexities to the situation and to his and his people's life.

My prayers are with you, my friend Efraim.

Kol Tuv,
Ed

I would like to add my name to those wishing you and yours a safe time.
Ef and I were just talking about the tragedy of the three young Israeli teenagers, and then the tit for tat and the young Palestinian boy.
Tragic.

Thanks for this post.  I have a special place in my heart for Ef and Israel.  I would join the IDF if they would let me.  Oh, and don't worry about Ef too much, that man can run very well, up hill and over rock terrain like a mountain lion!  I took this photo of him as he was leaving me in his dust.   ;D

Blue, not trying to steal the post, but couldn't help wondering or if EF mentioned anything about poison snakes over there??? That rock wall in the picture would be a copperhead haven in my area? Jack

Not sure what kind of snakes they have over there,  :-\.  Ef is the master at the botany and animals over there.  This was a hill or mound of an old settlement which archaeologist refer to it as a "Tel."  It will eventually be unearthed I would imagine.  Ef told me this was an area David of the Bible spent time pre-king.

There are vipers and adders in israel, but I don't think they are numerous nor widespread. If I remember correctly, they are mostly in the southern parts.

Sure worried about you, Ef. Check in as soon as you get a chance.

Title: Re: Prayers Go Out To Efmesch
Post by: efmesch on July 23, 2014, 04:39:52 pm
I just discovered this thread a few minutes ago----I don't know what to say.  Your concern for me, my family and my country has me deeply humbled.
No need to explain my recent absence from the forum.  All the big recent developments have kept my mind on other things.  Even my grandson can''t get to a few of his outyards because of the rocket attacks.  Two of my sons have been called up as reservists for active duty.
I have refrained from writing about the local developments because I don't want the forum to be turned from a bee forum into a "political" forum.  I'm not a hijacker----besides, if I were really to start "talking" Iddee would probably have to put me in the censured list---perhaps rightfully so.

So just a few words to answer some of your questions.  My wife and I are doing okay.  Most days recently we have stayed home or near home.  When the alarm sirens go off or the radio or tv announces a rocket attack   we have had to quickly relocate to our houses' "safe area"---an inner hallway with no windows our outer walls and a concrete ceiling--2-4 times a day  (that includes at night too--around 2 or 3 AM).  Our distance from Gaza (about 35 km~20 miles) gives us about a 30-45 second time span to get there.  Then we start counting the explosions and estimate where and how far away they landed.  So far, I know of three areas in our small community (85 families) where rocket shrapnel landed on or very near houses. '
I've never been one to claim that I know or understand God's plans for the world, but considering that well over 2,200 rockets have been shot at us, many to heavily populated cities, the amazingly small number of civilian "hits" (3 killed) gives one the feeling that we're being looked after.
I follow the local news and the international media (via the internet) and find myself to be totally upset by the way that Israel's actions in attempting to stop this madness are being so thoroughly distorted.  I wrote a little about it in a PM to Jen (not wanting to politicise the forum).
Without elaborating, your words of encouragement and prayer are greatly and humbly appreciated.  They tell me that not all the lies of omission, comission and misrepresentation  presented in the media have turned you against us.
I'll close with this; the PEOPLE of Gaza are not out enemies.  The TERRORISTS are. In their cowardice of hiding behind the civilian population as they fight us, they put us in a double bind.  All the injured and killed civilians are a tragedy, if only we could prevent their losses without having to do so by placing our lives at the mercy of these terrorists.  Enough said.
Thank you again, each and every one of you, my friends.

Ef, your appearance here proves that many prayers have been answered. So good to see you safe and healthy.
You have many people on this forum and in this country praying for you and your country.  There are many liars in the media. All we can do is pray for them, that at some point their eyes will be opened.
Stay safe, my friend.

Title: Re: Prayers Go Out To Efmesch
Post by: efmesch on November 16, 2014, 10:57:12 am
That is a REAL tough question.
When one is in the thick of things and knows more details and more accurately just what is going on, and then reads the various news reports that supposedly "tell the same" story, it's hard not to be disappointed with most news media.  Many of them have notorious coverage, hiding important facts, distorting others or reversing the order of events so that what happens in response to something is presented as if it came first and was the initiator of a chain of events.  Another way in which the media mis-report news is by hding some imortant details at the end of an article, after the headlines of the same article implied otherwise.  The New York Times and the BBC are among the media that present the most (negatively regarding Israel) slanted coverage of our local news events.
Who is the most reliable, I can't really say.  But there are internet sites that specifically deal with the misrepresentation of news about what goes on in Israel.  One of them is CAMERA--the Committee for Accuracy on Middle East Reporting  (CAMERA.org. Another is: WWW.HonestReporting.com.
I can only recommend that you look at either (or both) of these sites when "interesting" events are developing in the middle east.  They will be able to fill you in with many of the "left out" or misrepresented aspects of the stories.
They should keep you busy, since there is always something interesting going on here.

i will check out the two sites you mentioned, thank you.

Yesterday afternoon I attended the funeral for three of the four rababis, murdered in a synagogue in Jerusalem during their morning prayers.  One of the three was the son of a former classmate of mine over fifty years ago.   :'(

To give you an idea of how the news media (in this case CNN) can distort news coverage, I copy the link for the CNN coverage of the story.

http://virtualjerusalem.com/news.php?Itemid=15011

Last night, a fifth death was added to the four--a Druze policeman who responded to the call and attempted to stop the butchering inside the synagogue succumbed to his wounds.

Cnn, msnbc far left news. Fox news far right news. Can Israeli people police their own country. If I had to live in a environment like that. I sure wouldn’t sit back and watch someone get slaughtered. We have the right to own firearms in the united states.

Our problem at home is our problem. The morals and values of our country today are terrible . To much computer and TV. Our liberal media gets paid by the special interest to lie to the American people. It seem to me they try to scare us with all this terror crap. I'm not scared of it. I'm getting sick of listening to it. Our for fathers came here because they wanted a better life. Look at our mother land today, England. We are following the same path like them because we have become to liberal. When was the last time we put god number one. Our government through him out. That’s why we have so much crime in our country today.

Ef, my prayers are always with you and the rest of God's chosen children.  It is that any country and its people live under the imminent threat of injury and death.  The ways of Heaven are a mystery to me, but the fact that you are God's chosen children makes me know that all will be well in the end, and if all is not well, then it is not the end.  My prayers are with you on this day and until the end of my days.
