This is some of the honey I harvested, bees done good!

No it was all harvested at the same time. I would think this was some early spring honey, most likely tulip popular.

I about 10 pounds surplus for the family. I hope it lasts until June/July 2014. I have one jar of that beautiful and tasty chunk honey left. Saving it for a rainy day.

That looks really good Dave.
I sold a quart of chunk honey to a young fella, kind of odd for the younger crowd to ask for it, usually the older crowd.

Yeap, mature generation does like it better. Young folks are scared to eat it. It's pure heaven to me. In fact, I think it will be a mainstay on God's harvest table. :D
Question, do you cut the caps off before submerging? I like to keep them on but curious/

wow g, that's a real cool photograph of your honey!!! (the first pic) and yeah, about chunk honey, or even comb honey, harder to sell to younger folks, unless they grew up with it, or their parents or grandparents did. dave, i don't cut the caps off for chunk honey. when i am cutting my comb honey frames, if i have a piece i am not happy with....you know, something maybe not quite perfect i just use these to use for chunk honey, so cappings are not cut off.

No the cappings stay on. I have tried comb that was not capped but makes bunches of air bubbles.
Bought some used Ross rounds stuff, going to try this out and see if it will sell around here.

If to much of the comb is not capped the moisture content of that honey may not be dehydrated enough of the nectar may not be totally processed and tuned into honey by the bees as the bee manipulate the nectar mutable times to convert it to honey.
All the pictures of comb honey look fantastic.

Was able to get 14 gallons off this year.
Everyone seemed pleased with the flavor including me.
Only issue I had was that I sold it all and didn't keep any back for myself.

That looks great. In fact I will definitely give the chunk honey a try in 2014. It might be a challenge, since I run all deeps. My plan is to do foundationless with fishing line supports, then cut out the fishing line. Here's a picture of my harvest. Around 200 Lbs, of which we kept 80. It's hard not to sell too much. Our honey was sold out in less than a day. The dark stuff is spring honey.

It's exactly backwards to what we see here. Spring is light, fall is dark.

pete, great pix! if you are using fishing line that you will cut/pull out.... just save one deep frame for chunk and comb honey. i have not done deeps foundationless, medium frames only with no support, get some great comb honey, and for some imperfect peices some great chunk honey.

Nice pics of all the honey. Hopefully I will have my own to talk about this year. Being my first spring. Would like to know more about this chunk honey and how you do it. Hoping to have 4 hives come this spring. One producer and 3 new starts. Any ideas of how it should go. Looking for some advice. Ty marty

Are you up for a swap by mail lb for lb on the tulip-poplar honey??? I'm not posting my personal info/address all over on a thread. Let me know and if it's alright I'll pm you with my website info. The girlie does all the label printing, mailing, etc. Apple & Plum honey/I have. I don't heat any of it...
That goes for the rest of you guys, if you have anything out of the ordinary(no clover or alfalfa!!!). I want to keep a honey swap under control/not let it get out of hand. Shipping sucks if you don't keep it in check.
