It is a pretty nice segment 5 minutes. Except they put my goofy self in it. ;D

Great new report, but they didn't have enough of your honey due hives.

Good read Yank, by having news articles like this will build the interest in beekeeping and start beekeeping. Jack

Enjoyed watching a nicely prepared report. It's specially nice to meet and watch you in the flesh. :)

What Ef said, and I will add that I think you should make up some cheap tokens to autograph and sell with your honey. :) It was a nice news segment and you did exceptionally well.

Hi Yankee :D Enjoyed that news brief very much. Soo, which one are you? Let me guess... uuum...Steve?! :D
And like Kebee, I was hoping for more info on The Honeysuckle Hives. But I'm sure the Discover channel will be seeking you out along the way ;D

Well done! :goodjob:

There's nothing like local honey! What a great segment. Hooray! Ready for prime time! :eusa_clap:

Yes. I am Steve.
He asked me a lot of questions and I would have picked other answers but that's how it goes in show business. :)
He did text me today and said he is really interested in the Honeysuckle Hives story more. He just couldn't get it in that segment, it was already
5 minutes long. So who knows. None the less, it was fun, he spent about about an hour and a half with us.
I thought he did an overall good job on the piece though.
Not sure I like the way they said I extracted local bees to add to my collection. Kinda made me feel like we just go grab bees for ourselves. I explained to him that we removed them from harms way when folks called us in a panic and may destroy them.

They covered a lot of beekeeping topics in that 5 minute segment so they didn't spend the time to develop the different aspects of beekeeping that were brought up. I Know lot of good information ended up not getting played. It's the way the news works, mostly headlines with little content.

What a wonderful news story! I think you were a great representative of beekeeping. It looked like they chose to focus on how doable urban beekeeping is. This wasn't your typical gloom and doom story. Your own story was one of a hobby beekeeper with a couple of hives, but you caught swarms and grew to 7 the first year. The First Lady of Arkansas even is an advocate of urban beekeeping. Your in great company.
They might do a follow up story since they have all that extra unused footage of you.
I appreciated the news anchor commenting on her fear of bees as a child, but she has learned to get over it.
Are there term limits in Arkansas regarding the governor? What happens when the Beebe's leave the governor's mansion?
-
Thanks,
And yes we have term limits. New Gov. in next election. I don't know what will happen with those bees and the Gov. place.
-
Good segment! Glad you got to be a part of it!!
Finally came up to the main computer so I could watch it..
NOW.. you need to get some video of those resurrected hives!!!! Recognized them, and was disappointed the camera didnt at least pan around...
Job well done!!

Yankee, you're a natural. Thanks for sharing that link.

Very nice piece.

Good stuff, :goodjob: and now that they have your name and number, don't be surprised if you get called whenever there's some sort of bee story and they want more information or another angle. It has the tendancy to mushroom.
