I've always been fascinated by steam powered vehicles.
Anyone here have any experience with them?

We have old original avery that belongs to our club. I have never ran it but would like to. I know our liability insurance is through the roof to insure it at the show while running

I'm going to start asking around up here . I know that we have a steam museum. But, it is all stationary engines.
With any luck I'll find someone or a group of someones who want to take me under their wings.

I have never run one, but have spent many hours welding on them. The Midwest Old Threshers Reunion is about to get going soon. I love going up and watching them run the big steamers on the saws and running the belts to the Dynomometers.. They get those big engines ROCKING and throw sawdust into the chambers when it gets dark.. The sparks FLY and it adds a whole new dimension to the chest shaking thump those engines pack when running hard.

Being a machinist I love watching them old Steam traction engine run. Made over 100 years ago with no CNC machines and still running. They made them old marvels with the manual machines I learned the trade on. The things the new generation calling themselves machinist make wont be here in 20 years. Never thought I would see a machinists job reduced to a low paying low skilled job to the point they call them operators now. :'( Rant over ;)

When I sold out my Gun Shop I kept my Lathe.. it goes for many months at a time without being used.. But when I DO need it, it is there waiting on me.
