I took another trip to the shrine hospital in St Louis. We travel from the west border of Missouri to the east on I-70. All along the highway across the state All I could see was goldenrod blooming which put the thought in my head I bet Jacks hives smell like Gym socks right about now. :D We are still a few days out from the bloom

:P yep forgot sweaty gym socks mere gym sock don't quite cover it.

Hey Rat, i wish they did, but for some reason i rarely see bees on Golden rod and it is every where around here? When the Aster starts the hives get a sweet smell to them, kind of like cotton candy or?? I checked Golden rod out one time and there must be 50 or 60 varieties of it, but our type must have BO. :D Jack

heh!! I have been watching the Goldenrod as well, and have not seen a bee on it.. But then, there is SO MUCH of it this year I might be looking in the wrong places. Plenty of choices right now!

The bees here don't pay any attention to goldenrod until it looks like it's almost done (brown), then they are all over it (right now).

I'm starting to smell it.
I did my last harvest today. Left all my hives as double deeps with one drawn super on top and no excluder. They should fill up nicely for winter.
They are definitely after something as we left doors open all day while extracting with 18 hives around and only saw about 5 bees come in. Set out all equipment for bees to clean up. No bees.
