I had a very nice third year. I started out with 3 wintered hives. At the beginning of May I started pulling Nucs and raising queens. Ended up making 7 Nucs, kept 1, sold 4, and gave 2 to people who'd lost all their hives last winter. The hives were quite weak after all that, but managed to recover by July and I ended up pulling 100 lbs. from each hive.

That comb looks awesome, so pretty and white, I'm hoping to get some of that next season.
Are those triplets you have there? :)
-
Not triplets, just twins and an older sister, but the twins are really tall for five years old. Right now they're about an inch and a half shorter, but I would not be surprised if they catch up in another year or two.

look at those three pretty girls!!! (spectacular sticky fingered audience!......)
congratulations pete! it's great isn't it?!
thanks for the pictures, the comb honey looks awesome, and i wish you and your bees well for winter.
how's that uncapping plane working out for you? is it still running hot?
-
I see those girls eating peanut butter and honey sammich's this winter ;D
-
Yes River, the plane works ok if I work fast with it, but put it down for 30 seconds and it smokes up the house.
Jen, we put honey on everything. The other day the girls were dipping carrots in honey, they thought it was great.
-
That's what it's all about right there! O:-)
Nice pic of the comb honey too.
-
Beautiful little fair haired girls and beautiful fair colored honey. The honey is so light! Your making memories for the girls there. They will remember how they "helped" harvest honey.
-
That is a fine looking family you have there. Good looking honey, too.
