Title: Hello From Blythewood, South Carolina
Post by: Scott Derrick on September 28, 2014, 02:44:45 pm
Hello Everyone,

Happy to find out about the forum. I didn't even know it existed. I'll look forward to meeting new friend and seeing old friend here as well. About me. I've been keeping bees for 10 years and I've been doing bee removals for a living for about the past 6 years. The name if my company is Blythewood Bee Company. I also created a product called Honey-B-Gone (http://www.HoneyBGone.com) which is a bee repellent used to drive bees from honey supers. I've also created Swarm Commander Premium Swarm Lure (http://www.swarmcommander.com). I love all aspects of beekeeping and business. Both are in my blood.

I'm a disabled US Navy Veteran who served from 1983 to 1991. I served in Desert Storm and was seriously injured. I was discharged from active duty in 1993. I was a Jet mechanic and worked on the F-14 Tomcat which I absolutely loved.

I currently have 5 hives and have been moving more toward top bar hives and away from Langs. I'm more of a naturalist beekeeper and believe honeybees can adapt to change as they have for thousands of years long before we start "keeping" them.

Well that's about all.

a hearty welcome to you scott, thanks for coming and thanks for being here!  looking forward to reading your posts, just jump in and share your experience or some pix and maybe videos from your bee removals, we all are big fans of any beeks work on these, everyone has a different method and every removal is so different but it really helps others!  also enjoy the forum and post away!

btw, thank you for your military service.  my father was airforce during the korean war, also a jet mechanic.  the airforce flew him all over to do 'special' work on planes......he doesn't talk much about it. never has. it was only this past year i learned a little about some of his military service and what he did at that time.

again, thanks and enjoy!

Very nice to read.  I worked for the VA for years and have a special place in my heart for veterans.  My son is a veteran.
