Title: Making the reversable inner covers.

Giving the new table saw a whirl. Tops, bottoms and inner covers. The table saw saves a LOT of money. May have already paid for irself in these pictures.

Now pics 3-4 are those bottom boards?

no. the orange are the solid bottom boards.

Pictures 3 and 4 are the reversible inner covers. flip narrow side down in summer and turn over in winter to give head space to allow room form suger cakes on top of frames.

First time to try these but I think I will like them.

 I say you have been busy building, and I like the reversible  inner covers, looks  like they will work real good.

So why drill the hole? WHy not just notch both sides?

   I am NOT being critical, honestly wondering. Maybe I am overlooking something!

i realize that this is an old topic, but I was in the process of making a few of these reversible inner covers for myself, and  was wondering  why, that in the summer when you have the narrow side down, what stops the bees from migrating up through the feeding hole and into the void space so they can make a mess of  things with comb.

You are right they will, if you so not have enough honey supers for the bees to collect and store in. Once it gets a couple of supers of honey between the inner cover and the brood the bees will fill downward and plug the brood nest rather than go up thou the capped honey

I keep the jar lids stuck in the holes. Keeps me from losing them, stepping on them, etc.  The most major benefit to that is that I do not need to find a place to store them. I always know when I open the hive that the lid is there.   Take the jar to the hive, pop outer cover, pull lid out of the hole, scrape off propolis, install on jar/feed
