1800 lbs. worth, and 20 more supers to go. Although most of it is half full or less, a lot of it is uncapped so it should go quick. ;D
Then clean up starts.

The heating "cabinet" works great, bringing 14 supers up to 30 C (85 F) for a couple days and then they extract easy.
14 in the cabinet with the last 6 waiting to go in.

I kind of go with the flow, but sometimes i get into trouble when i add to post. :o You kind of have to know who you can mess with and who you can't ;D Like Perry, he's an old Fuddy Duddy that's forgot how to fight back.  Jack

I can't wrap my mind around that amount of honey. It just doesn't compute. I started keeping bees when the drought started

Jeepers Jack, you remind me of a fresh caught mackeral, flip flopping on the deck of a boat. Is the squirt a buddy or a pain, stick to one or the other?
None of this fair weather stuff now, we need to know one way or the other. ;D

nah, just needed some more 'whiners'.............. :D
it's snowing here too, and it was a real HOT 10 degrees if that today.
sorry i sidetracked the thread, but it sure is fun sometimes. i have been looking for pix of the last great honey harvest i had a few years back. 17 or 18 5 gallon pails and they were all full. haven't had that good of harvest since all the rain, flooding, droughts and fickle weather started. at the time i had 7 hives, and 30 supers. i only harvest once in a season, in the fall. 2 supers fill a five gallon pail (8 frame supers), weigh approximately 50-60 lbs give or take, so i harvested somewhere between 850 to 1080 pounds of honey, and the hives all made it to the next spring. i started to worry towards the end of july, i was running out of supers. all 30 supers had drawn comb in them, and they were all on. i thought i was going to have to buy new boxes, assemble and put foundation in, not a bad thing, except i took a vacation and went fishing at the most inopportune time........ :D
as it turned out, it was alright, i did have a number of inner covers with honey filled comb all over underneath...... :D the fall flow started early and was in full glory. i took the supers off, all 30, and the bees filled out the deeps, and i didn't have to feed any of them that year. the pix i have are before i had a digital camera, but the supers of all different colors stacked up in the back of the truck sure looked cool, AND the buckets stacked up after extraction. it took me 2 summers to harvest all the wax in a solar melter, using that solar melter, every day, non stop.
haven't had a season like it since, maybe again someday!
-
What did you do with all that honey Riv?
-
i sold it jen!!!
well actually, i just paid the bank back....... :D :D :D
-
Very Cool! that may be my aim as well, but I don't want to get over 3- 4 hives at the most. Maybe that will happen when the drought is over, if it ever gets over :-\
