Anyone made any hives out of Cypress lumber.
If so, how does it do, and what do I have to do for maintenance?

Cypress works well. Old growth lasts many years. New growth rots about as fast as pine, or maybe a bit faster.

Thanks Iddee, I guess I'll stick with my yellow pine then.
This yellow pine makes some heavy boxes. Painted, should last a long long time.

i build cypress bee hives and sell them. i recommend either coating them with linseed oil or better yet coat them with spar varnish put several coats on and let air out for a week or two before using them it make a great looking natural box that should last you for years .
