We all like our plastic wrapped meat we just don't want to be reminded of how it got to that stage in the store.

I think that's it exactly.
My  kids ask where it comes from, and I tell them. 
I also make them help butcher chickens.  I think its good for them to know food doesn't just mysteriously appear in the store.
