Tonight on CNN, 3/5/15, there will be a program Morgan Spurlock: Inside Man entitled "Honey Bee-Ware". It will air at 8:00pm Central Standard Time. The show description says that Morgan steps inside the shoes of a beekeeper (or should we say beesuit?) 8) in attempt to find out why the bees are dying. Here is a little promo video. http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2015/03/03/orig-inside-man-morgan-spurlock-bees.cnn (http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2015/03/03/orig-inside-man-morgan-spurlock-bees.cnn)
If I am correct, Morgan Spurlock is the Super Size Me guy that did a documentary about eating McDonald's food and becoming unhealthy doing it.
Set your DVR!
-
Thanks for the heads up! It is the same guy that did the MacDonald's thing (which I found incredibly interesting).
-
what McDonalds Thing? I ignored it.. Criticize my fav restaurant? I'll do a you tube special about how eating Morgan Spurlock will make you fat and unhealthy!!! :P

well i am clueless on the mc donalds thing.................
but thanks bakers for the heads up on this!
-
There were 2 men did reports on McD's. One did a study, and found it bad. The other actually lived on McD's for a year and was healthy and lost some weight, which he wanted to lose.
Guess which CNN, NBC, and CBS gave the most publicity? That's why I won't be watching tonight. It's leftist maniac CNN.
-
Come on iddee, the number one trait of us bee keepers is having an open mind. C:-) I’m going to try to catch the program. It’s so darn cold today, there won’t be much else to do this evening.
Yes, Morgan Spurlock is the guy who LIVED on McDonald’s food for a few months. Actually it almost killed him. Sometimes visual evidence is more compelling to people than numbers on a piece of paper.
The McDs documentary was called “supersize me” and it was a good watch. It wasn’t associated with CNN. I do eat McDs every once in a while and I don’t consider them evil. Too often it’s the consumers who are not paying attention and who are making very poor choices. Visual documentaries like this may at least have some chance of reaching those people. Relative to the other fast food places, I believe McDonalds is the healthiest; but it’s still wise to know what you’re eating.
Thanks for the heads up Bakers. :eusa_clap: I have seen a couple of his CNN pieces and weren’t overly impressed with his CNN work but I’m going to try to catch this one.
-
Logic- "Yes, Morgan Spurlock is the guy who LIVED on McDonald’s food for a few months. Actually it almost killed him.
Yup! I remember reading how eating months of McD's trashed his liver. Not to mention the odor in the morning while on the pot. Colon poison.
Thanks Baker! I'll try and find it over here :D
-
I didn't see the SuperSize Me documentary. I guess I am missing something. It sounds like it was a horrible experience for him. Hope he has recovered. I did see Morgan Spurlock on one of those late night talk shows last week.
-
You have to have a mind before it can be open. Many have said I don't qualify in that category. :o
-
I've got my DVR set!
-
For anybody that set your DVR. You get to watch the breaking news of Harrison Fords Plane crash. It does come on again later.
-
Tried to watch it but its just a bunch of IDIOTS asking teh same questions over and over again about Harrison Fords plane crash... A black box in a vintage plane? Really? Are people really that stupid? I have little faith left in humanity....
-
i see harrison ford has pre-empted regular programming.............. :D
darn, at least they could show some harrison ford movie clips.................. :D
-
I stayed up to try to catch the re-run at midnight and they’re still talking about the plane crashes. :o Then I saw CNN say they're putting together a special report on MH370 coming up later this month. CNN sure loves their air plane crashes.
So I watched a little rehab addict and tried CNN again at 1am. Still no bees. :'( I’m going to bed!
-
I watched the story about the plane crash on my small town tv news program last night. They said everything I needed to know in about 30 seconds. Man! Oh, well! Next time maybe.
-
Oh razzle frazzle snazzle frazzle phffft! Those news stations sure know how to beat a subject to death. Good grief! No wonder no one watches them! >:(
-
Must have been a slow news day....
I was able to search on diredttv for other showings of the program, not finding any, I set it to record any program by that name in the future, so it should catch it when its rescheduled. :-)
-
I wonder how many people will come away from last night's programming with the idea that it is plane crashes killing honey bees.
-
Do a search on you tube. You might be able to find the video there. These news channels pull this stuff all the time. They want you to watch there show first then they put on the schedule show later.
-
Let it "bee" known - last night's scheduled episode, "Honey, Bee-ware," is set to air Thursday, March 12 at 9pm ET/PT on CNN. This is according to the shows facebook page.
-
Oh Good! we were out of town and didn't get back until late

If I could cancel my satellite I would do it right now. (have couple things stopping me, #1 wife, #2 daughter.)
Bought a truck last year with one year free XM radio. I let it expire and now they call me all the time wanting me to send them money. I always have fun with them when they call. I love asking them things like, whats wrong with my free radio? or If I get it free radio, why do I want to pay for it? Or I'll say, Ha, I wasn't aware that it expired.
I'm with Iddee on CNN, no thanks.
If you find the bee show else where, lets us know.
-
Thanks for the update on the possible re-broadcast.
As far as the McD debate, there is something wrong when we pay twice as much (at least) for milk as we do pop . We wonder why we have poor health?

rjones: Thanks for the info. I will reset the dvr and hope Harrison Ford doesn't have a medical setback.
Perry: How true. I won't start it here, but there is something very wrong with our food and lifestyles in this part of the world. I am as guilty as the next person.
Slowmodem: That's new to me. I never heard to Tooter Turtle! How old is that?
-
Here's some pictures of the plane crash that didn't get seen until recently. The moral of the story is, "Don't Fly Solo, Hans!"

thanks rjones, appreciate the info when this will air again. will watch it irregardless of what channel it's on.......thank you!
-
will watch it irregardless of what channel it's on
I think at one time or another, about every major channel has ticked me off with some comment or other, so I tend to not watch any of them. Over 200 channels on our TV, and I will on a rare occasion watch something of interest.. I too will try to catch it, so thank you for the repost.
-
Did I get in here too late to bash CNN? ;-)
I hope there is something of value in that program. I'll watch it too.
Since the sentence above is in line with the OP, maybe one could get away with a little philosophizing about CNN and its place in history. We all saw what CNN has come to with the coverage of a very minor event. But, in its beginning, CNN cleared the way for all the 24/7 News channels. It was a giant step forward for the industry.
I remember one interesting story about CNN, (when I was assigned to Scientific and Technical Intelligence for the Human Systems Division in San Antonio, Texas in the mid 1980's). I was down in the bowels of the Pentagon when this story was relayed to me. There were some attacks beginning in the Middle East when the White House called to ask who was attacking whom? The Intel analyst there had no information from 'feet on the ground', but, was able to look up at the CNN monitors and accurately report to the White House situation room which aircraft platform was making the attack (a good Intel Analyst would be able to recognize the aircraft platform and its markings to conclude which Air Force was attacking). Back then, CNN was the real deal and we all benefited from it. :-)

Thanks for the history, Lee.
Now CNN and the nightly news has become the subject jokes, satires and tabloids. Interestingly enough, this falls under the category of the Seven Degrees of Kevin Bacon. In the movie Anchorman 2 Harrison Ford plays a small part as a retiring network anchorman. Ron Burgundy goes to work at a new concept in news, a 24 hour news station called GNN.
Personally, I don't care what station is showing a program. Depending on the subject matter, if the show is of interest to me and I am aware of it, I'll watch it. They don't know if I tune in or not. Recently, I have caught a few episodes of Strange Inheritance on CNN. I find that oddly interesting. To me there is no connection between news and that program.
Actually, I never watch the network stations or the local news. If I want to know the news, weather, etc. I turn on the radio. The programming is mindless drivel and the commercials are worse. PBS is the exception.
End of speech. I will get down from my soapbox.
-
thanks bakers,
the topic of the thread is not about cnn, it is about a show on bees being aired on cnn........."Heads UP! TV program on Cnn".
so let's get back on topic...... ;)
like others, i will watch the program irregardless of who airs it.
-
Right you are, Riverbee. Sunday morning ramblings.
-
I'll be watching too(if it's ever broadcast). I wonder though, how a man with almost zero experience with honey bees is going to accomplish anything (other than filling his wallet).
-
Well I have it down again to record lets see if it even gets aired.
Ken
-
Finally, this episode aired.
-
I tuned in a little bit late, but thought it was an OK show.
-
I, of course, missed it.
-
I missed it too-razza frazzen........ :eusa_doh:
-
Forgot to set my DVR and missed it. Oh, well.
-
I watched it. not bad. at least it wasn't a witch hunt
-
I enjoyed it. Wish they had referenced a study other than the Harvard study on neonicotinoids. Made some great points about the difference between hobby, sideline and commercial beekeepers. Was pretty fair minded in its scope. One can always pick on details, but it is pretty good and worth the time to watch. :)
-
Hey Perry, here's a link to the website for the show. I'm sure they'll show it again.
http://www.cnn.com/videos/tv/2015/03/03/orig-inside-man-morgan-spurlock-bees.cnn
At least now I know how to say neonicotinoids!
-
I really hope they rerun it.
-
I recorded it and watched it today and I enjoy it, had quite a bit of different opinions from group of bee keepers he interview.
Ken
-
they referanced the Harvard study by Chencheng Lu? (SP?) I would have thought anyone would be a little gun shy about doing that after that study was shredded by so many, including Randy Oliver.
-
I got the impression the program wanted to put the bulk of CCD on neonicotinoids. Easy scape goat, but CCD is probably caused by a combination of stressors, like poor nutrition, GMOs, diseases, long distance transporting, and poor husbandry. If you noticed, the huge beekeeper in Texas scaled back his operation to focus on honey and eliminated pollination services. Also, some neonics are worse than others. If a neonic is mixed with a fungicide, it's even more toxic. More field studies are needed and homeowners need to apply chemicals as directed by the label.

I just watched this using the GorillaVid link... Thank you. I found it fairly interesting.
Two points of interest to share... At about the 29 minute mark, when they started talking about the Harvard study... They mention a man named Ken Warchol... That's my state bee inspector. I knew he was involved in the study. He spoke to me about it, as did they guy (I forgot his name) that I bought a queen from last fall. Unfortunately, that queen didn't make it. However, the purpose I mentioned that: when I drove to Uxbridge to pick that queen up, I was standing about 75' from the Harvard study hives they showed in the video. Neat to have that relational experience to what they were referring to in the show.
In my opinion, they seemed to touch on many important topics. For non-beeks watching the show, I feel some good points were made.
-
Cpn- That's cool to hear. I felt there were lots of educational points made as well.
-
Finally finished watching it. I liked the part about beelining. I want to try that sometime to see if I can find a bee tree.
