live at 6000' elevation temps -20 F to 95 F been keeping bees now for 6 winters.various breeds Carnolian,Russian x Carnolian,new world Carnolian,and unknown from cutouts and swarms and this spring adding to breeds pure Russian,and cordovan Italians.make my own deep brood boxes.I don't treat or supplement feed unless it's surplus frames of honey from existing hives.Trained myself "no mentor" learned thru trial and error.this spring 2014 will be trying to raise Queens from my own stock with the Jenter queen rearing system open mating all queens.sell my honey local at $1.00 per ounce.It goes fast registered company name beefuzz

Welcome Frank, let us know how the honey taste if your bees find a patch of that funny weed they just made legal out there. Hummmm, on the other hand, if they get into it they may not find there way back home. ;D Jack

Welcome Frank, self taught is the way I started also and after 30 + years I'm still learning. more now than ever thanks to forums like this one and the beekeepers on them. Like to chime in and leave a little of my accumulated knowledge and experiences every now and then, OK a little more often than that.
