As you can probably tell by my variety of profile pictures, I love to create things on my computer. I primarily do Facebook Timeline Banners and Profile pictures, but have done fliers, designed a logo (that was tricky and interesting), an advertisement or two and that sort of thing.
I thought I'd tell y'all, if you're ever interested in a little profile picture on here and would like me to make you something special, I'd be happy to do that for you. It's fun for me. :) I can also help if you want to do an ad on here (I did the one for Beez Needz on the main wall).
So, just message me if you ever feel interested in that sort of thing. Or post below. Whatever you prefer. I'm pretty easy going like that. :-[

I've seen some stuff that I always thought would be cool. I always thought it would be nice to have a caricature done for an avatar and maybe even on a label. My son has a thing on his I pad that turns pictures into "sketches". There's a guy and his wife at the Farm Market that sell homemade pasta. His business name is "The Noodle Guy", and he has one.

Or, something like this one of Jack with his mason jar.

There's a market for the bee labels. Amy done well with them. Heard she still does them but does not take on new clients.

Dad and I have been discussing the honey labels. I'm looking into the arts side and he into the "how to get going on it" side of things. So that may be something I end up doing. :) I love to try new things.
-
ladyytay,
with your talent you could design honey labels. how to get it going? well, just work with the beek and offer your creative mind. design a label or two and we all brag and post about your work with pix, that's all it takes, and maybe a free website on what you have to offer those looking to have honey labels.
think about it? i think you have the creativity to do it!

Cute Easter profile. Good work :eusa_clap:
-
I like what Riverbee says... It would be nice to see a portfolio or collection of some of your ideas. I would definately be interested :)
-
By "get it going", I meant more along the lines of what supplies are needed, what equipment, perhaps getting that equipment (I don't even have a working printer). But I am excited at the idea and will be happy to show samples as soon as we figure out the logistics. :) Thank you all for the lovely encouragement!
-
This is exciting Tay! :D to have a graphics designer on the forum ;D
-
I do love it. My mom loves to sew. For me, this is my "sewing". It's all a matter of finding the right color combos, ideas, patterns, etc. And then putting it all together to make something pretty or unique. :) I absolutely love to create. It's a lot of fun.

Well, I'm starting. A little bit. Got a label program. Found the most amazing site today with tons of pictures from the public domain that I can use for free. :) Just have to figure out how to save a template in the program as an actual picture (it's not letting me) so I can show people the samples. lol Once I figure that out, I can start experimenting with ideas.
Give me some inspiration. If you wanted a honey label, for example, what information would you want on it. Would you want an actual picture of flowers and bees or simply a clipart style bee?
I'm exploring and just curious so I can have an idea of what sort of thing appeals.
Also, other than honey jars...what other kinds of labels would beekeepers be looking for?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. :)

You have to have the weight on the label. I would also want my name and contact information other than that the sky's the limit on the marketing ideas
-
Thanks. :) We need a "like" button in here. lol
-
very cool!
lip balm labels.
ideas? i have to think about this, i was working with a graphics person to redesign mine (honey jars and lip balm containers). i have to find someone else now. that's why i hired them to give me ideas...... :D
-
Hello...graphics person here. :) lol Be happy to chat about it if you don't get that figured out. :) What size label does the lip balm typically need?
-
LOL!........... :D
okay then! i am up for it! will get in touch with you LadyyTay!
the first designer, did websites and lablels. bargained with her. she got her divorce but i didn't get labels or a website designed....... :D
she still buys honey from me though once in awhile ........ :D
the second designer, not sure, i think maybe she didn't want the business? (does work for large companies).
i switched to an oval lip balm container, i think i have the dimensions of the label.....but it looks like this:
.15 oz OVAL Natural Lip Balm Tube (https://www.elementsbathandbody.com/.15-oz-OVAL-Natural-Lip-Balm-Tube.html)
-
I'm able to work on the labels, but know nothing about designing websites. I did write down the label information from the tube link. :) Once you contact me and give me an idea of what you're looking for and what info you need on it, I can see what we can come up with.
-
website... use Weebly and start your site for free.. then you can grow and advance from there, and its REALLY easy to work with weebly software.
-
I'm not familiar with weebly, but wordpress is another great free one.
-
thanks guys. i do have a website, a .com website i do pay for. it's unfinished cuz i am a dummers at getting this even with a 'build your own', WYSIWYG option....... :D (what you see is what you get) pretty basic and boring. i really don't want to mess with this, it's not my forte, and i am not in a hurry. ;D
so when i find someone who doesn't want to barter for a divorce or anything else it will get done............. :D :D :D
my apologies if i sidetracked your thread ladyytay.... :-[
to ladyytay's question, lets give some ideas!:

labels for lip[ balm tubes lotion bar containers pollen etc
-
Being an old sprout cutter, i don't know much about what you'all are talking about, but when i find out how to post pictures? it's all over for my buddy Perry. Jack
-
I'll have to look up the lotion bar containers and pollen containers to see what those look like. Thanks!
-
Ok, folks. More advice needed. :) (My only customer so far has not had this issue come up before now, so couldn't assist me.)
What have you guys paid for your labels in the recent past?
What sizes were they? Can you send me a sample so I can see a comparison of style versus cost?
Did your price include a designer creating the original from scratch or were they chosen from premade designs?
I'm trying to come up with a fair price list, but am getting conflicting ideas online trying to find that out.
Any help or information would be much appreciated! :)
Thanks!
