I just noticed something about these pictures.
It is raining and all their heads are pointed up with their wings pointing down. Does it not look like roof shingles. Is this how they shed water in the rain out in the open.
Amazing creatures.

Yes, it is. They completely waterproof the inner bees. As soon as the rain stops, they can fly again.

Sometimes I think I enjoy catching swarms more than any other part of beekeeping. As long as they're not my own, anyway.
