Title: Swarm #4 for this week.
Post by: Yankee11 on May 02, 2015, 10:19:20 pm
This one moved in today in a trap in our home yard. I went down to the yard right as this one started. Got to watch the whole thing happen.

Way cool.

We were going to the yard to get a fame of eggs for the trap out we started today.  :) 2 for Saturday.

I’ve never used that type of swarm trap.  Curious….How long do you let them stay before moving them into a hive box?  I imagine if too much time passes, you’ll have to do a cut out.

Rrog. Yea..to long and ya gotta cut them out. Not bad though. These i dumped in a deep hive today. Then set the trap back up. Lol

Perry- remeber all those boxes i made this winter. Frames i put together.....im out of hardware already. All my nuc boxes are full. Several bays of my queen castle has a mated queen in it.  I will be outa supers very soon.

I've got 5 flower pot type traps with bees in the now.
I haven't checked on the ones I set around the pasture where one of my bee yards is.
I just got a case of pots in today so I'll be  putting out several more.
I'll have out around 40 traps.
