Just had it done today. Going to go stir crazy for sure. Any one else had their meniscus torn and repaired recently? Wondering if the recovery time is as fast as they say (I sure hope so!)
Till then, I have s stylish new compression sock...

Had that exact surgery Zweef! I was on crutches longer than they said I would be. How long did 'they' say you would be needing crutches?
-
Total time is about 3 - 4 weeks
-
Everyone heals a little different, but that sounds about right. Count on 4 ;)
-
wow zeef, how did you do that?
couple of guys here have had knee surgerys/replacements, jack and lazy shooter, but not sure exactly and don't remember details?
age is also a factor for healing, and also following doc's advice and be diligent with any physical therapy.......
the worst tear i have ever experienced was to the hip flexor, a complete tear, and has never really 'healed'.
you will go stir crazy.........love the sock!.............. :D

I've had knee replacement on both knees, wish i had done it two to three years earlier. Like jen said, everyone don't heal alike, my first knee replacement i used the walker and cane for 4 weeks before i got brave enough to go without then. After the surgery on my right knee i was on my tractor the second week, my wife told the doctor on me and he just shook his head grinned and said just be careful and don't over do it. ;D. The best advice i can give is do the therapy, i know people who didn't do the therapy at home like the therapist told them and they had problems and still do :o. The pain pills gave me more problems than the surgery, i quit taking them and just took extra strength Tylenol and made out just fine.Jack

Zweefer:
I had the exact same surgery about 25 years back on one knee. It worked well for about 20 years, then the old knee just gave out. Since then, both of my knees have been replaced. Like Jack said, "do the therapy, whatever they asked you to do." The engineer side of me says, do all the therapy and give your knee the most opportunity to be as good as possible.
As best I remember, I was house bound about three days and took some pain pills during that time. After three days, I was walking in the house without crutches or a walker. Then I ventured into the driveway and in a couple of more days started walking 1/4-mile. If memory serves me correct, I was walking a mile in 12 days. I was then a consultant, and went back to work in 21 days.
Good luck, and if it gets you past the constant pain, you will soon be very happy.

Ouch... that doesnt look fun...
My dad just got T BONED on his motorcycle.. broken rib and shoulder etc... He is going stir crazy, and getting fristrated.. he wants to GO!!!! and he cant... not many times in his life he has been tied down so he is pretty miserable...
Hope you heal up fast!

Thanks guys! Started to put a very little pressure on it today. Still doing the therapy as prescribed. The worst is being stuck around the house.

had similar surgery 5 years ago. I did not follow Drs orders to take it easy (yard hydrants freezing up in winter and thirsty animals....) . After getting the knee drained because of my stupidity, I was another 4 weeks before I was pretty much back to normal.
Follow their instructions and you'll be back to good in no time.

Took a few steps without the crutches today... Will be using the crutches again for a few days :-)
