This is the rack I use in my incubator to hold queen cells cut from foundation or jzbz cell cups.

Thanks for that picture! It gave me an "ah-ha" moment. I didn't realize the large end of the roller cage would fit the base. A great adaption of that system! :-)
-
How did you ever figure that out capt44. :)
-
Looks good! Keep those pictures coming! I am cataloging all of this information for later use!
-
FWIW, I just saw 25 of those cages, with two bases, for $17 shipped from China. :-)
-
How did you ever figure that out capt44. :)
Why from you of course, you show'd me a picture and it works.
It sure makes things neater in the incubator.
-
lol, messin with ya.
I got some boxes opened up now. So fixing to graft another round. :)
-
I just grafted 96 larva Saturday.
They are suppose to be capped off tomorrow.
Sunday or Monday I will move them into the incubator.
-
I grafted last Saturday and they were to be capped off yesterday (Thursday).
I won't even look at the hive for the next 4 days.
They are in a critical development stage right now.
Wednesday I can move them to Nucs and the incubator.
Thursday they are due to emerge.
I grafted 96 larva and had 89 take.
I hope to graft again Monday or Tuesday.
-
89 took? well done!
-
He's a show off. :D
-
89 of 96....Makes me humble.

Early on in the season queens are easy to get accepted by the bees.
But later on say later part of June thru about the middle of August the acceptance rate really goes down.
Alot of commercial beekeepers like to requeen in the fall for the new queen will act like a new queen in the spring and be an egg laying machine.
That is so they will have a big population of bees in the spring.
