I couldn't believe it when the homeowner of the Willow Street swarm from May 27, 2015! Same small Magnolia tree three times, once in 2014 and twice in 2015!! It was small one but the queen was a healthy looking one. Yes, the nuc fell over and I had to wait a little while to collect them all, :o

Another few swarms and your neighbor from Willow street won't have much of a magnolia bush left. Why not just hold the frame against the swarm let the bees climb onto it and then place it in the nuc?
The new queen looks like she's a virgin. ;)

Hi Ef! I don't normally cut branches. However, as luck would have it, she discovered he swarm attempting to trim the tree. I offered to trim it for her while attending to the swarm. Time was of the essence yesterday and if I could avoid returning in the evening for the bees after a "shake," all the better. So, she said it was okay to trim the section with the bees. I agree about the queen. Virgin small.

Blue! You are a natural! Every video has a lesson ;D This is Great! The first time I have seen a virgin queen. I see that her abdomen is still wide, it's just not full and long. I just learned something new today ;D

Thanks, just having fun! She is still interested but seemed to always be gone when I catch the swarms. My baby girl turning 13 soon and is already finding other subject more interesting to that age I suppose.
