was going along in front of the one hive i have about 2 feet out in front of the hive and three feet away to the west, was whacking the weeds down away from the fencer and i found it...

hard to tell from the pix, but this nest was very small, about 3 1/2 inches or so in diameter, not more than 4 inches, so in perspective, the eggs are small.  not sure what they are? i am thinking white throated sparrows, they tend to nest in the tall weeds near my hives, (and are now) but am not sure. they are neat little birds to watch.

OH how sweet!  Did you cut down their cover?  Have the parents been back?

no, i didn't cut down the cover bakers. the parents have not been back.  i think what happened was my lawn guy decided to weed whip this section (he rarely does when i have mulitple hives, been stung one too many times......... :D).  i saw a section that was growing up near the fencing and stumbled across the nest. the more i looked at this area, i suspect he went to weed whipping, and maybe scared up the nesting bird, or saw the nest himself, and didn't finish up to the fence, just left it alone and did not want to disturb the area anymore.
the nest and eggs are still there......but........
