July has been better than I thought after the first few days passed. They are not laying tight any longer and can run like a deer :D  when they see or hear you. The other night the pup and I saw 7 different fawns in a hour walk thru the over grown field and woods.
Mostly out the living room window.
We also have a set of triplets.

Ya all don't like my babies?

I love'em. Can't wait to put a few more in the freezer. ;D

Like them at your place, hate em at mine :-D

LOL! Some of my landscaping clients would ask for advice about Deer destroying their yards. I'd suggest a few plants they don't like, scent products, barrier methods, etc. Then they ask if they're a problem for me at my house, as they know I live kinda out in the country….
"Nope, most people in Hilton like to Hunt!"

Great pictures, Al. I would be thrilled to have those in my back yard, but I wouldn't be excited about the ticks that might accompany them. The location of my country bees is in deer country and the ticks are bad. But I have also startled wild turkey while checking on the hives. I have to assume the turkey are eating the ticks!

Bakers:
This time of the year, our wild turkeys are eating grasshoppers. We always have a huge grasshopper hatch in the summer, and the turkeys eat them almost exclusively. We don't have ticks anymore. The fire ants ate all of the ticks. I haven't had a tick on me at the ranch in a decade or so. That's the only benefit I see to fire ants. I would prefer to have the ticks.

I have had problems with the deer here the first time in 30 years. I even had the veggie garden next to a over grown vacant field. Just 30 pound fishing line knee high has been enough to keep them out of Kare's flower beds too. I now have a electric fence up around the gardens. So far knock on wood it is working.
