I see a lot of new beekeepers with questions about supers. frames and foundation, here is what works best for me. I am a small beekeeper in East Alabama with about 50 hives and sell honey from my house and at the local flea market. I do not take all my honey at one time but take it in the spring and summer as needed, usually five hives at a time. In the spring I will add frames with new foundation as needed in the supers, I do not use new foundation after June 1st but only install frames with comb. I have found that the bees doo not like to make comb thru-out the long hot summer. Also after spinning the frames I put them back in the hive wet, I have found that my girls are happier doing this and will fill the frames faster. By robbing five hives at a time I will have hives in July that have four supers but it seems that I still run out of honey, the people in my area are falling in love with local honey.

Great to hear Fish, and thanks for sharing!
What kind of foundation are you using? Have you tried foundation-less, or will that not work w/the extraction method?
Thanks.

I am old fashion, I use wire on my frames with wax foundation.
