oooh, a JP Video! Wait, let me refill my rum and coke!
Nicely done. I am always amazed at how UN sticky the jobs you do look. I usually have a 5 gallon bucket to wash hands and cut out knife etc... Always a pleasure to watch you do a removal.

I noticed that JP cot the comb off the plywood and placed the top edge on the top-bar, then he cut thru the brood to fit in the frame. I have always tried to save as much as the worker brood as possible and would of cut some of the honey off the top of the frames in order to save more of the brood along the bottom. But doing this will release a lot more honey and make a lot stickier mess. I am going to have to rethink my way of doing things.
The depth of the comb I think it would have fit in 2 mediums with it cut in 1/2. Or 2 or 3 of the cut offs could have been stacked in a frame to save them but you do end up with some crappy comb when piecing to many pieces together.
Thanks JP another great informative video.

Fascinating cut out JP!
Enjoyed the music too!
Thanks for the explanation about starting the smoker. :-)
Hey JP, how did you get into beekeeping?
Always the high point of my day to watch your new video....Keep'em coming!

Poetry in motion JP, I don't know how you come out of your cut outs so clean and tidy :) 8)

Enjoyed the cutout JP, thanks for posting it.

Apis, late August they can use all the honey they can get, likely why I left some of the honey up top or just because it was easier to do it this way

Looks a lot easier and a lot less messy too. Some times you have no choice but to cut the top to straighten the comb if it was under a sloped roof.
-
I am curious how long it took you to do that cut out, JP? Thanks for posting. I enjoyed it.

Always a pleasure... You almost make it look easy :-D

Bakersdozen, this removal was a few years ago & if memory serves me right it took all evening & I left after dark
Fast forward to today, it would take me perhaps half that time now as I'm always trying to improve my methods, learn new tricks & short cuts
