Just when I thought was done for the year, a local tree crew called me for a colony in a dead cherry tree. Couldn't have been more easy. I supplied the tree guy with an extra suit and up he went. It really pays off to have an extra suit! Plugged the hole, cut way above and below the suspected colony location, lowered to my truck and unloaded it in my yard. I opted to stand them up and let them have their home until spring. Heck, I may just leave them alone. The limb was lowered and transported gently to avoid breaking too much comb..I hope.

Thanks for the report! Did you notice how the inside of the tree was almost coated with propolis? I have seen that before, it must be pretty universal for an established hive. Very interesting video, thanks again. :-)

Hi Lee. I sure did!

Good thing you don't have neighbors close by to see you planting dead trees in the back yard. Nice rescue Dave.

Dang, that did look easy. I'll have to buy me one of those nice cherry picker trucks. Hmmmm, will that add to my bee budget significantly. :):):):)

Wow, great job.....fascinating...That's a might big entrance hole for them, that surprised me. Good luck with them!

I think they are used to seeing him planting dead tree parts in his yard... Either they are brave and ask, or see the patrol car sitting there all the time and they are terrified!
