It wasn't a bee hive. It was a tree, cave, clay pot on its side. And they were like the bears. they were after the grubs (larva) and bees. The honey turned out to be a bonus.
When John Corner was in Kenya with Care Canada setting up and promoting sustainable beekeeping rather than being honey robbers. They were after the brood to eat as much as they were the honey. The honey they would sell.

Wife said they served Bee Larvae in one of the oversees places she went for desert.. no clue how it was prepared, but it had chocolate drizzled on it... She was not amused.. Couldnt figure out why they would do that to good chocolate....

"Couldnt figure out why they would do that to good chocolate...."

Hahahha  :D I'll have to side with wife on this one.. :D

I have to say tho, that many apitherapist are taught to not waste any of the bee. Sting your achy elbow put fresh dead bee in your salad. Honeybees are considered a perfect protein  ;)

hmmmm, well, i guess i am with scott, no honeybee larvae in my chocolate AND protein or not..... no fresh dead bee in my salad or anything else, had enough of the butt ends of a honeybee in various places........ probably had enough or get enough 'protein' from that............ :D :D :D

"Probably had enough or get enough 'protein' from that"

Now you went and did it! I'm going to have to investigate if there is any protein type components in venom...  :D
Title: Re: Funny

Most allergys are because of the way the body reacts to the protein in the way it trys to break it down. People are more likely to have a reaction to foods that are a protein. Nuts, milk, cheese, pollen, bee stings.

How about mixed in with your honey? I have witnessed frames being uncapped where queen excluders were not used with automatic uncappers. the blades go over the tops of the worker cells, but the drone cells get their caps ripped off and depending on their stage of development can get spun out of the cell with the honey.

When I harvested my first honey a couple years ago, I was doing crush and strain. A couple of my jars of honey had a little bit of drone brood fluid in it. It didn't filter out like I thought it would. Later when I opened the jar to test it, it had a bad pungeunt smell. Didn't like it and tossed it. It was only about 3 jars so it wasn't a great loss but a good learning lesson.

I think I'll gather up some dead bees and put them on the salad at Thanksgiving.... I'll let you know how that turns out. Wrong time of year for drone larva! Darn it.

I'm confused  ??? I go to the bee yard feeling good, working bees, warm sunny day, smell of the outdoors, ect. Then the bees decide they don't like me and i get several hits and get some swelling and some throbbing  and don't feel real good, But, with the bee venom i have in my body that the bees gave me 8) the swelling over my eye, my jaw, and ear, starts going away in just two or three days. Thank you little bees for the healing venom you gave me. Hmmm, something doesn't seem right about this :eusa_doh: Maybe riverbee, jen, B12, or Gypsy can figure it out????  Jack

Hey Bee! I think there is more protein when the bees are freshly dead, not ones that have been laying in front of the hive for weeks  ;)

Apitherapist are taught... sting the knee, eat the bee   ;) 8)

Lizards are nice white meat, similar to catfish, but not as oily. Very good eating.

Monitors and 'gators have a lot more meat than anoles, tho.      ;D

LOL!!

a 6 inch lizard.. could it be worse than frog legs?  Id gut it, and skin it and throw the whole thing in the deep fat fryer, breaded of course!  Softens/cooks the bones then you eat it like a smelt or a french fry!
     ;D

Scott, Wait... If breading and deep frying it softens the bones... thinking :eusa_think:.... Why bother gutting and skinning it! The whole lizard body would soften up with a crispy chicken fried coating on the outside, plenty of salt and pepper and a BEER. I would eat one  ;)

But Stay Far Far Away From My Lizard Scott, you have to find your own...  ;)

Sorry Perry, I can feel you turning green clean over here in Cali  :D

Oh how I agree with the above.  We, in West Texas, will eat it if it can be fried.  We like it even better, if we can make some gravy along the way.

Jane will not allow a deep fryer in the house. Whenever I mention it, she it quickly points to someone with an over-sized derriere and asks me if that's what I want to be looking at (even in the mirror). :D
