Title: Infused Honey For Those Under The Weather Days ~ As Gifts
Post by: Jen on December 01, 2015, 12:02:56 pm
So Easy! I'm making some small jars of infused honey like this for those people I know love honey. And don't forget a sprig of Rosemary. Lemon Rosemary honey   :)   So comforting when you have the sniffles.

Nice idea for gifts, except the price of vanilla is too rich for my pocketbook.  I wanted to make a vanilla bean dessert until I saw the price at the market.......$14.00 for one bean!

Les, you can get quality madagascar vanilla beans on amazon for about $1 a bean. I bought 20 beans on Amazon, they came nicely sealed and I keep them in a glass jar in the freezer until I'm ready to use them. I found the same thing in our Raleys store. One vanilla bean $27. That's insane and I won't pay that.

River ~ I did a batch of ginger and lemon peel two nights ago. I put the honey, lemon peel, and ginger in a pan and brought the honey to a 'warm to the touch' heat. Smells Sooo Goood! I'm making small jars of this concoction for my dearest freinds.

Jen, I combined slices of whole lemon with bits of ginger in honey on 10/3/15.  I put this in the fridge and take periodically stirred into tea or hot water. I use it sometimes to help me sleep.  The viscosity of the honey has changed over time, but it's still very good.

Yes I've noticed that the honey is much looser, but smells and tastes so good. If I have a sore throat or cough I thinly slice ginger, about 1/2 to 1 inch, put it in my cup, add hot water and the lemon/ginger honey. Comforting
