Ground water??? The water table has been falling around here for years, but with all the rain in our area this year it should be back? Don't remember seeing the fields and yards green all year long  there was water still standing in the fields before this rain started around 11:00 am yesterday, checked the rain gauge 4:00pm and it read 4 inches :o (we had down pours) and it hasn't stopped raining, and isn't supposed to ti;; Monday afternoon :eusa_doh: Our acre and a half pond is about 200 ft. from the house and most of our yard is now part of it, we check the basement ever so often and so far it's dry . The creeks and rivers are all out of there banks and there have been many water rescues in the area. Just wondering how some of you are making out that's in this storm going across the country. Jack

Hi Jack :) We have gotten phenomenal rain this winter, storms come and drench real good for a few days then lets off. Some snow, enough to get both northern California and southern Oregon ski slopes open and running. Great for our water supply and local economy. All of our lakes and rivers are full :D:D:D
-
Still raining, just checked the rain gauge and dumped out 41/2 inches, that makes 81/2 inches in around 24 hrs. period, and it's still a study rain. Thinking about taking the boat off the trailer and tying it to the front porch. Jack
-
That's A Lot Of Rain Jack! I like your boat idea...
-
Over two weeks of on and off rain and gray skies and I am soooooo sick of it. I would rather see the white stuff and be cold than this dreary stuff.
-
My rain gauge has one and one-half inches at this moment. One hundred and twenty-five miles to the northeast, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex has been flooded with three to five inches of rain and some serious tornadoes. There has been 13 reported deaths from the storm. It is currently freezing with a mixture of sleet and snow. The forecast is for up to three inches by morning. It will warm to 40 degrees F tomorrow and that will be the end of it.
This has been a wet year for our area. For the moment, the drought has been broken. Our lakes and rivers are full, and our shallow, limestone aquifers have fully recharged. In normal rainfall years, our area has plenty of water. The majority of Texas and the midwest is running out of water. As usual, our governing bodies are not going to address that problem until the rubber meets the road.

8 people have lost there lives so far, one not to far from my farm on a low water bridge and two more are missing. Now they are saying freezing weather starting the middle of next week, i have six bee yards 35 and 60 miles north that all have creeks and rivers close by, but i think they are high enough that they will be okay. Two club members have posted they lost hives from high water, one lost 2 and the othere one lost 5 hives. I had a feeling we was going to pay for all the nice weather we've been having and we still have a long ways to go before the first honey flow . Keep safe. and keep your powder dry. Jack

We are getting snow ice and rain here. I have a link to Missouri weather to monitor conditions for nobles driving to the shrine hospital. I got a notice today that I 70 was closed in both directions over by St Louis due to water over the highway. I haven't seen this happen before

we have had some rain jack............but this winter has been crazy for weather, abnormal warm temps, with rain showers, snow spritzes, and no temps below 30 degrees and no snow to really speak of! had days recently in the 40's. ground is not frozen, things still a bit green. today and now tonight we are estimated to get up to 12 inches of snow..........it's snowing like crazy right now..........weather guys say til 6:00 P.M. tomorrow.......
-
We just got hit with close to 4" of sleet, in the mid twenties and wind chill of lower teens. Now mid thirties and will be for a while. Just plain nuts!
-
On December 26th we received 1 1/2-inches of rain and the following night we got 4-inches of snow. The snow is mostly melted, but we are in a wet and muddy situation for the next few days. It's wonderful for our us. The last five years were all in a drought, and it is nice to see mud and water standing in the fields for a change.
-
I don't like all the talk of rain on the other side of the pond.
I am afraid that we seem to get the remnants a few days later.
-
Looks like the rain is over here for now? had to feed 5 big round bales of hay yesterday during light rain, but then it started that white crap (don't have a cab on my 3020 JD), the wind came up and was blowing snow so straight and hard i could hardly see to drive from the tractor seat :o. The good thing is the ground was so wet it didn't stick, there is water still standing in the low spots in the fields, it doesn't have any place to go? The cattle are burning through the hay, i think i'll have enough, but we don't know what's ahead of us? It got down in the 20's F last night, but nothing is froze over? it's 28 F now. Jack

YOU TYPED THAT WORD, JACK.
YOU TYPED THAT WORD.
YOU SHOULD NEVER TYPE THAT WORD.
IT IS FORBIDDEN TO TYPE THAT WORD.
NEVER TYPE THAT WORD, JACK.

We haven't got the rain Missouri got. See on the news lakes in the Ozarks discharging record amounts of water through their spillways. We are having trouble with ice and power outages. We was without power for 7 hours Sunday and another 4 hours today as they are doing rolling blackouts to keep the grid up.
-
Jack,
It has poured here for 3 days. My generator through a rod 4 days ago and with all the clouds, the solar panels couldn't generate so I've been cut off from the world. Creek is up so no getting out either.
-
Wow Neil, whst a bummer, hang in there. Sorry iddee, i felt i had to use that word, i didn't want to say i was getting hit in the face with white crap.  Jack

We have gotten out share of rain here I think, almost 14 inches in 5 days and forecast for more tomorrow and Thursday , all our rivers and streams are up and there has been some flowing also, but thank GOD there has been no tornado here like they had in Texas and Mississippi.

:)Hurrah! Sunshine!!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

The skies have been pretty dry for the last two weeks. But today we got the first dribbles of the heavy rains we've been hearing predicted since this past Sunday. Tomorrow and Fridday are predicted to be the height of the storm with heavy rains, winds and intense cold. We cancelled our planned visit to spend the week-end with two of our childrens' families in the higher, inland area of the country. There it should be much colder than here and there's even a chance of that white powder falling there.
Of course, I've got nothing to complain about---relative to what some of you have been suffering, our weather is all pleasure.
-
Well, called into town and put a generator on hold. Gonna head in tomorrow and pick it up!
-
Well the rain yesterday and today broke the record for rain in this month of December with 18 inches, and it is still raining with some clearning tomorrow after 12 pm, we will see, no sun shine until next year, with a cold spell after, take it instead of the rain for now.

Just saw a aerial shot on the news at Arnold, Mo and I remembered Rober lives there. The whole town was flooded! Has anyone heard from him?

Hey Neil: Thanks for pointing that out, and yes, I just sent him an email asking if everything was OK.

Looking at 2015, the avg. rainfall for this area is 52 inches. My weather station recorded 74 inches. That is for a year, but that's still a lot of water. I've been trying to get dozer work since Thanksgiving, but it's just too wet.
