Post by: cover it up on March 05, 2016, 08:24:57 am: how about this bucket works good can go up to 45ft on the ground used it last year hade to get on a 12ft latter to get them out of a tall pine got about 8gals

Post by: iddee on March 06, 2016, 03:48:46 pm: cover it up, I would make one suggestion. You have two vent screens on top the bucket. I would remove one and replace it with a piece of queen excluder. Cover it with cardboard and tape over it. Once you have the swarm on the ground and the lid on, remove the tape and cardboard. You will know with in 2 minutes if you have the queen.

If she is there, the flying bees will gather there and go in. If she's not there, they will empty the bucket in 2 or 3 minutes. Then you will see them go to her and you can try again.

Drop the swarm in, put the lid on, watch for a couple minutes. They will tell you real quick where she is.

Post by: LazyBkpr on March 10, 2016, 07:07:53 pm: YEP!! I use my Bee vac to catch a swarm.. pop the top off, shake in swarm.. put top on, remove vac tube plug and see what happens... Usually the bees begin heading for the opening.

I'd like to see the bottom of that BeeVac, and understand how it works. I have couple RoboVacs, but that design would be usefull in certain situations. How about showing us the bottom of that BeeVac Lazy? :)

Post by: LazyBkpr on April 01, 2016, 01:23:43 am: The bottom is a hive Lee. I put a 3/4 inch board across to block the entrance and strap it all together. When I get home I lift the top off and set the second box with the frames I rubber banded the comb into on top, place inner cover and lid, remove entrance block and walk away.
