Perry days at Iddee's
-
All are welcome. Apr. 20 and 21. PM me for the address.
-
would love to be there!!! would like to meet iddee and perry !!! all in the same place (iddee's) how cool would that be?! love these guys!
-
I'll second that river- will have to schedule meetings some other time though
-
Hey Scott! Road trip?
-
That's quite a haul for you guys, don't do it on my account. I may end up bumping into Scott in Maine maybe? ;D
-
This thing is starting to look like a movement ( Arlo Guthrie ) :)
-
Would love to meet all of you in person, but that's in my busy time, bees, truck gardening, cows having calf's,grand kids ball games, and trying to find time to go fishing. ??? Thanks for the invite, maybe some other time? Besides, i would probably be the only Democrate there, and perry would try to beat me up for all the mean things i've said to him, and i would have to use my Kung Fu on him.   Jack
PS, found a cow down (paralyzed) from calving (big calf) gave her a shot and put hip huggers on her and lift her with the loader this mourning, let her stand for awhile, took huggers off and she walked off. Had to bottle feed the calf, now to see if she will take her calf?? Life on the farm. :)
-
Gonna miss ya Jack, but that's gonna make it easier to talk about you. :D
Democrat? I'm a Liberal (for the most part) so I guess we're close on that? ;D
-
wait what? How are you getting away in April Perry? Oh.. wait.. April in Canada, theres still at least a foot of snow....
Yes, it is a LONG drive, but one that was well worth it, and I would do it again without hesitation... but.. April 20th and 21st? That hurts!! And.. yes, you can probably catch up to me in Maine sooner or later... Wife is looking at properties. Just got done listening to the descriptions of the ones she has looked at already.... So... I think its not long from happening, fortunately she has become squeeky frugal in her old age. She demands ocean front property, at least 60 acres, with a NICE house, and a garage, accessible by truck so I can stage my hives there, and all for under 50K.......
-
You may not make it to the Guilford field day, but after I get finished with a bee presentation on the 21st, I'll probably skip work and ride down the road to iddee's.
-
What can we bring, thanks iddee didn't see this post, will PM you
-
Bring yourself and whoever you want.
-
Just a quick tip, anyone who makes the effort to visit Iddee and I when I am down there should send me their shirt size in advance, and you may end up with some Canadian swag. ;)
-
SOOOOOO JEALOUS! I swear Perry one of these days I'm gonna swing up your way.
-
Hey perry are you ready for the food down there crocodile tail frogs legs road kill I'd say iddee got you some possum to try I think he told me
-
I'm gonna slip him a Mickey Dees gift card and some tums. But he still needs a ride. Maybe he's been trying to lose a little to show off that schoolboy figure for summer. Might be easy to do when the possum comes to the table.
-
:o :o :o
-
Church group took all my possum for Easter Sunday. Only snapping turtle left.
-
You can't scare up a raccoon or some squirrels?!? Poor Perry is getting the short end on this trip :D
-
Plenty of 'coon and squirrel in the freezer. Perry can have choice, as he's the guest.
-
The Raccoon was good but you should still go for the squirrel Perry. Squirrel is right at the top of the grocery list when I pick up the rifle.
The wife sent me some links to a place she is looking at in Maine.. if and when we get a place there, I'll have to set up a NE gathering and Drag Perry down to it.
-
Hey iddee, if you have coon, make perry a southern tooth pick he can carry in his shirt pocket for ever. I have one. ;D Jack
-
I have a few laying around, Jack. I'll see if I can find Perry one.
-
Just a quick tip, anyone who makes the effort to visit Iddee and I when I am down there should send me their shirt size in advance, and you may end up with some Canadian swag. ;)

Church group took all my possum for Easter Sunday. Only snapping turtle left.
Now I'm tempted! Turtle Stew!!! Yummmm :)
-
  ;D ;D
-
Those good old boys in South Louisiana and Mississippi will fight you over a soft shelled turtle. It does make a great stew.
-
Someone needs to inform Perry about that toothpick.
-
SSHHHH... Don't give it away. ;D

You pegged it perry, but my sweet potatoe pie is brown not that color.
-
I prefer acorn squash pie. It taste somewhere between sweet potato and pumpkin pie.
-
I'm having fried grits and fried cured hog jowl's this mourning, one of my favorite breakfast. My buddy perry would love that, i can't hardly tell the difference between Butternut squash and pumpkin pie? Jack
-
I'm having fried grits and fried cured hog jowl's this morning...
Do you make grits with milk or water?
-
Water, never had them made with milk? Jack
-
Brooks, take it up a notch. I start with water making thick then smooth em out with whole milk
-
I make a bowl of grits with water, then add honey and milk and eat like oatmeal or cream of wheat.
-
My wife makes them with water, puts milk honey and cinnamon on hers. I like mine with real butter and pepper, but for fried grits just pour them in a loaf pan and let them set in the frig. over night, slice, role in flour and fry in what ever oil you like. Or grease from the jowls. Jack
PS. builds your cholesterol right up, Oh well, nobody lives for ever anyway.
-
Why do I get hungry every time I visit this thread? :D
-
I prefer them cooked with milk in the recipe. :)
My next door neighbors do NOT use milk and feel strongly about it. Interesting how cultures and their recipes vary. :)
-
Cheesy grits on special days ;D
-
I have a frirnd that stirs potted meat in his. ??? might be good? but doesn't sound good to me. Jack
-
Hey, Jack, I found Perry a toothpick. He can take a REAL southern souvenir back with him.
-
Glad to hear it iddee, i was going to send you one if you couldn't find one of our southern treasures. How long do you think it will take to train him to use it and hold it properly through that beard. Jack
-
What beard?
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs15.postimg.cc%2Fb6lhr9n4n%2F20160331_120632.jpg&hash=8642a7070d195894209d1f6d973226e6f6dc0468) (http://postimg.cc/image/b6lhr9n4n/)
-
That should cut down on the training period. Good job. your buddy Jack
-
What? That's it? No cracks about how handsome I am? :o
You're starting to worry me Jack, are you feeling OK? :D
-
He had to get rid of the beard so he would look like his pass port photo to get into the US
-
Nope!   Jeez, you guys just don't really know me at all, do ya?

From Ted Kaczynski to Richard Dean Anderson! Looking good buddy!
-
57 hours til touchdown.
-
Starting to get very excited!
I've got some t-shirts ready, gonna pm those that let me know to confirm so I get it right.
-
Safe travels Perry, wish I could be there!
-
Have a great trip! We expect some photos and updates!
-
Hey iddee, look out i hear that those French people greet you with a kiss on both cheeks. Perry said he's getting excited so he must be getting puckered up, i guess he shaved his beard so it wouldn't tickle you. Just saying.  Jack
-

Now that's funny!
-
Indeed! If Iddee had stubble they might get Velcro'd together! I'd hate to see Mrs Iddee have a heart attack from laughing while they flopped around trying to get apart.
-
Iddee can't grow facial hair, part of his heritage.
I don't like flying so this should be an adventure in itself. There are no direct flights, so heading to Iddee's I land in Philly for an hour, then Greensboro. On the way back I spend 2 1/2 hours in Newark before leaving for Halifax. A little more take off and landing than I'd prefer.
I don't travel much, not the vacation type really. I love my home and see little need to go far beyond it. With the internet these days, you can pretty much see everything anywhere anyways.
But special people I will travel to meet. ;)
I first "met" Iddee when I was a wet behind the ears pup with basic (at best) beekeeping knowledge, back in 2009 if I remember correctly. He was running that "other place" and I was a new member. It didn't take me long to figure out who I would follow closely. Iddee and tecumseh were quite prolific posters, and I have learned a lot from them. I first learned about cut-outs and trap-outs from Iddee's threads.
-
I cant argue with that. If I had a choice in the matter I would never travel beyond 15 miles of where I live right now, and would die content.
I have flown a LOT, but also do not like it.. I think it has something mto do with putting my life in someone else's hands.. If my truck breaks down I coast off the road and make a phone call... if a plane breaks down.. I hope I have time to make a phone call...
Traveling to meet Iddee brought me back to my roots.. how he lives is how I remember living, and often wish I still lived. The people he introduced me/us to were good people with basic values and morality, people that ALL people should aspire to be like.. Yes, I would, and with luck, WILL one day travel down to see him again... Maybe I will eventually be able to talk him into visiting me so I can take him out on MY boat and feed him MY beer and wild game!! Show him MY weapons collection and introduce him to people "I" know that have good basic values and morality........ But I degress... Not sure if Mrs Iddee will allow the ornery old bugger to get out of her sight that long!!!
Enjoy the trip Perry. I DO TRULY wish I could make it... Wish you would have made plans for a month later.... But as Pa always said, Wish in one hand and POO in the other and see which one fills up first!
-
Perry you are right about the special people. Most of the people you will meet were or should have been in what we call down here Special Ed in school.
-
Not here, CBT. We couldn't pass the entrance exam. :o ;D
-
Ever see a happier face??

Look at those uggly mugs. Not saying which ones.
-
The ugly ones have dark hair, the good lookin ones are either gray or don't have any!
Good days!
-
Hey I recognise that place... he moved some hives to the other side of the fence?? They were all along the driveway when Ted and I were there.. looks like its come a long ways!!
-
A few more than the 11 we had when you were here, Lazy. No, the ones along the drive are still there, plus the barnyard, plus 25 at Larry's farm.
About 75 total now.
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2F7m7ocyw7l%2FDSCN6037.jpg&hash=a10f65b99b063b4f8dc0514d02f9d33f95f087d4) (http://postimg.cc/image/7m7ocyw7l/)
-
I like the hive on the end, looks like a 50 pound rock on the lid!
-
I really can't say enough about the welcome I received when I was there. The people were great, the weather was great, the bees were happy, just really couldn't get any better. Once things slow down for me here I will download some pics, but the ones on Iddee's camera are better than any I took.
-
Looking at those picks makes me feel almost homesick?! How can that be? I've only been there once! Lazy? Did you get that lonesome, longing, homesickie kind of feeling or is it just me flipping out? Ted
-
but the ones on Iddee's camera are better than any I took.
Iddee wont be in any of the photos he took on his phone though.

Good point, I am waiting for the picture of the infamous tongue sting. :)
-
I saw a pic with Iddee sporting a wad of cotton in his nose. :o
-
Somebody's big head was blocking my ugly mug 8)
-
How about this one, Mikey. You are in the clear in this one.
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2Fb2ks373vl%2FDSCN6055.jpg&hash=2ec742a03cdd20e36c4917a2ec6cc816bddff138) (http://postimg.cc/image/b2ks373vl/)
-
By Jove what a collection of fine looking gentlemen! Glad it wasn't a suit and tie type of dinner though.
-
Of all the pictures posted I have not seen one person with a World Wide Beekeeping T-shirt on!
Looks like a good time was had by all that attended.
-
Well now, when I went down there I wore my WWB shirts.. dont recall if Ted did or not...
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2Fgdt39vtsx%2F20150607_163419.jpg&hash=86c54da04eeb9e2dbda2c7634b9ce8b29bc933f4) (http://postimg.cc/image/gdt39vtsx/)
And of course we had to take those cool shirts off to put on more cool shirts while there...
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2F3y8lucwdd%2F20150606_120519.jpg&hash=a64296291ddef068c2eddec7b9c6b5fb90f1bfad) (http://postimg.cc/image/3y8lucwdd/)
Didnt get to meet as many cool people as Perry did, but the atmosphere was friendly, inviting and homey, So, yeah Ted, there is a feeling of contentment when looking at the latest pics. Next time there is a gathering down there, I hope its during a time that is not as busy here so we can make the trip again!!
HELP! I'm FALLINGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! err... I never can figure out why some pics are right side up and others are upside down when posted in here.. on the website and everywhere else they always post right side up.. :-[
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2Fgdt39vtsx%2F20150607_163419.jpg&hash=86c54da04eeb9e2dbda2c7634b9ce8b29bc933f4) (http://postimg.cc/image/gdt39vtsx/)
-
great photos scott! thanks!
love the beez needz t shirts!!!!
ps fixed the one pic,
"I never can figure out why some pics are right side up and others are upside down when posted in here.. on the website and everywhere else they always post right side up.. :-["
hard to say why, smart phone photos, rotating the phone, and one pic was edited with microsoft windows photo viewer, the other was not.........?
-
I seem to recall two of the three of us wearing our forum shirts when I first came to visit Lazybkpr (not mentioning any names, Ted). The thread is "Visit to the Outyard"... Sorry I can't dig the pictures up and repost at the moment...
EDIT: spelling
-
Hey thats right... But Ted... He's a rebel.. I think I mentioned to wear the shirt... my mistake, I should have said DONT wear the WWB Shirt.
Iddee;
A few more than the 11 we had when you were here, Lazy. No, the ones along the drive are still there, plus the barnyard, plus 25 at Larry's farm.
About 75 total now.
Dang, you guys expanded quite a bit then. How many does he plan on?
-
50 permanent. Sell the rest. Continue expanding and selling. 100 permanent next year.
-
Seems when the hives double the work more than doubles, oh my aching back. :\'(
-
Yeah. I got a large. Should of got a really, really large.
-
HEY! Looking through pics, guess what I found??
(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2Fegmrqzevl%2FDSCF2324.jpg&hash=7dcbebebeb6093e79590d4d43e3f7995814976f6) (http://postimg.cc/image/egmrqzevl/)
SO Iddee DID wear his WWB shirt, so it looks like TED was the only one who neglected his forum duties!!! :o
-
LOL! great photo scott!
