Would love to meet all of you in person, but that's in my busy time, bees, truck gardening, cows having calf's,grand kids ball games, and trying to find time to go fishing.  ??? Thanks for the invite, maybe some other time? Besides, i would probably be the only Democrate there, and perry would try to beat me up for all the mean things i've said to him, and i would have to use my Kung Fu on him.    Jack
PS, found a cow down (paralyzed) from calving (big calf) gave her a shot and put hip huggers on her and lift her with the loader this mourning, let her stand for awhile, took huggers off and she walked off. Had to bottle feed the calf, now to see if she will take her calf?? Life on the farm. :)

wait what? How are you getting away in April Perry? Oh.. wait.. April in Canada, theres still at least a foot of snow....
Yes, it is a LONG drive, but one that was well worth it, and I would do it again without hesitation... but.. April 20th and 21st? That hurts!! And.. yes, you can probably catch up to me in Maine sooner or later...  Wife is looking at properties. Just got done listening to the descriptions of the ones she has looked at already.... So... I think its not long from happening, fortunately she has become squeeky frugal in her old age. She demands ocean front property, at least 60 acres, with a NICE house, and a garage, accessible by truck so I can stage my hives there, and all for under 50K.......

You may not make it to the Guilford field day, but after I get finished with a bee presentation on the 21st, I'll probably skip work and ride down the road to iddee's.

Plenty of 'coon and squirrel in the freezer. Perry can have choice, as he's the guest.

The Raccoon was good but you should still go for the squirrel Perry. Squirrel is right at the top of the grocery list when I pick up the rifle.

The wife sent me some links to a place she is looking at in Maine..  if and when we get a place there, I'll have to set up a NE gathering and Drag Perry down to it.

Do you make grits with milk or water?
Title: Re: Perry days

Water, never had them made with milk? Jack
Title: Re: Perry days
Post by: CBT on March 30, 2016, 03:33:06 pm
Brooks, take it up a notch. I start with water making thick then smooth em out with whole milk
Title: Re: Perry days
Post by: iddee on March 30, 2016, 04:16:35 pm
I make a bowl of grits with water, then add honey and milk and eat like oatmeal or cream of wheat.
Title: Re: Perry days
Post by: brooksbeefarm on March 30, 2016, 05:10:01 pm
My wife makes them with water, puts milk honey and cinnamon on hers. I like mine with real butter and pepper, but for fried grits just pour them in a loaf pan and let them set in the frig. over night, slice, role in flour and fry in what ever oil you like. Or grease from the jowls. Jack
PS. builds your cholesterol right up,  Oh well, nobody lives for ever anyway.

I prefer them cooked with milk in the recipe.  :)

My next door neighbors do NOT use milk and feel strongly about it.  Interesting how cultures and their recipes vary.  :)

Title: Re: Perry days
Post by: Perry on April 17, 2016, 07:52:32 pm
Iddee can't grow facial hair, part of his heritage.
I don't like flying so this should be an adventure in itself. There are no direct flights, so heading to Iddee's I land in Philly for an hour, then Greensboro. On the way back I spend 2 1/2 hours in Newark before leaving for Halifax. A little more take off and landing than I'd prefer.
I don't travel much, not the vacation type really. I love my home and see little need to go far beyond it. With the internet these days, you can pretty much see everything anywhere anyways.
But special people I will travel to meet. ;)
I first "met" Iddee when I was a wet behind the ears pup with basic (at best) beekeeping knowledge, back in 2009 if I remember correctly. He was running that "other place" and I was a new member. It didn't take me long to figure out who I would follow closely. Iddee and tecumseh were quite prolific posters, and I have learned a lot from them. I first learned about cut-outs and trap-outs from Iddee's threads.
Title: Re: Perry days
Post by: LazyBkpr on April 17, 2016, 08:36:29 pm
I cant argue with that. If I had a choice in the matter I would never travel beyond 15 miles of where I live right now, and would die content.
I have flown a LOT, but also do not like it.. I think it has something mto do with putting my life in someone else's hands.. If my truck breaks down I coast off the road and make a phone call... if a plane breaks down.. I hope I have time to make a phone call...
Traveling to meet Iddee brought me back to my roots.. how he lives is how I remember living, and often wish I still lived. The people he introduced me/us to were good people with basic values and morality, people that ALL people should aspire to be like.. Yes, I would, and with luck, WILL one day travel down to see him again... Maybe I will eventually be able to talk him into visiting me so I can take him out on MY boat and feed him MY beer and wild game!! Show him MY weapons collection and introduce him to people "I" know that have good basic values and morality........  But I degress... Not sure if Mrs Iddee will allow the ornery old bugger to get out of her sight that long!!!
Enjoy the trip Perry. I DO TRULY wish I could make it...   Wish you would have made plans for a month later....  But as Pa always said, Wish in one hand and POO in the other and see which one fills up first!

A few more than the 11 we had when you were here, Lazy. No, the ones along the drive are still there, plus the barnyard, plus 25 at Larry's farm.
About 75 total now.

Well now, when I went down there I wore my WWB shirts.. dont recall if Ted did or not...

(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2Fgdt39vtsx%2F20150607_163419.jpg&hash=86c54da04eeb9e2dbda2c7634b9ce8b29bc933f4) (http://postimg.cc/image/gdt39vtsx/)

And of course we had to take those cool shirts off to put on more cool shirts while there...

(https://worldwidebeekeeping.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs32.postimg.cc%2F3y8lucwdd%2F20150606_120519.jpg&hash=a64296291ddef068c2eddec7b9c6b5fb90f1bfad) (http://postimg.cc/image/3y8lucwdd/)

Didnt get to meet as many cool people as Perry did, but the atmosphere was friendly, inviting and homey, So, yeah Ted, there is a feeling of contentment when looking at the latest pics. Next time there is a gathering down there, I hope its during a time that is not as busy here so we can make the trip again!!

I seem to recall two of the three of us wearing our forum shirts when I first came to visit Lazybkpr (not mentioning any names, Ted).  The thread is "Visit to the Outyard"... Sorry I can't dig the pictures up and repost at the moment...

Hey thats right...     But Ted...   He's a rebel.. I think I mentioned to wear the shirt... my mistake, I should have said DONT wear the WWB Shirt.

  Iddee;
A few more than the 11 we had when you were here, Lazy. No, the ones along the drive are still there, plus the barnyard, plus 25 at Larry's farm.
About 75 total now.

Dang, you guys expanded quite a bit then. How many does he plan on?
