My nephew is an officer in his high school FFA program. He had restarted started the beekeeping program the school once had. Beez Needz donated a bee package last month. While we were at the school installing the bee package, we also mounted a swarm trap to a nearby tree. The swarm trap had bees in it for about two weeks before we transferred them in a hive. Below is the video of our experience.

Beautiful job. Like the pros. I love to see the younger folks getting into it.
Thanks for the posting.

Very cool. Thanks for posting.

Someone is brave to wear all black :o cool
-
Yea the black clothing guy is my Dad..he was not planning on helping .. He said he was going to watch and threw a vail on and helped out.. He has never helped with bees before. I thought the bees would have been a little more proctective of their hive in the swarm trap.

We were told black clothes and more over sweaters looked too much like bears and may set off attack of the whole hive. Maybe that's folklore but I won't test it.
-
I have read that also. I have tested it on many occasions waring black or dark blue jeans black shirt and black leather jacket. Have never noticed the bees to be more aggressive or targeting of the color black while been wearing it working the bees.
-
I didn't wear black today. I received 2 on right eye, 2 on left eye, 1 on each cheek, 3 on neck, 5 or 6 in hair, and I don't know how many others. They weren't waiting for something black, for sure. ;D :D

Enjoyed that!

We have two yard dogs of aussie/border collie type. One is white and the other mostly black. When the black one hangs out with me at the hives sooner or later he gets stung or head butted. The white one is a mellow old girl and they act like she isn't there. Go figure?

She doesn't give them cause to be aggressive. Had a golden lab and a Sheppard at the farm the lab would snap at the bees wasps but the Sheppard ignored the bees and the bees ignored him

Awesome, I'm with Iddee, we need to get more youth involved with beekeeping. PM me your address and I'll send you out one of our swarm traps (https://beevac.com/product/swarm-trap/) so next time you won't need to do a cut-out on them.

Thanks Robo ! PM sent

I enjoyed the video. Here in my location, feral bees will attack black gloves, black glasses...anything black is of interest. Believe it. I never tire of seeing beautiful comb like that. :)

It was amazing to see what they have done in just 2 weeks .

Thanks for the swarm trap Robo .. ! It came today! I am going to get it painted and hanging by the weekend..
