Title: Blueblood's Thirteenth Swarm 2016 Wet and Destitute Bees Saved
Post by: blueblood on May 18, 2016, 11:15:03 pm
I was told this pile of wet and cold bees fell from a branch above and endured two days of rain and cooler weather. I thought they were goners. But, they bounced back I believe. I tried to capture a 14th swarm this evening but they were clinging tight to a main branch. I managed to get some in a nuc which I left behind. Will check on them tomorrow. It is close to the biggest one caught for 2016.

The swarm master strikes again.  It won't be long until I hear someone say: "Have you read Bluebloods book on swarm capture?"  And, I can reply, "yep, I was there on the forum with him when to being the swarm master."  Maybe next spring!

There are a few with mad swarm/ cut out skills on the forum. Last year Yankee captured a lot of swarms and rescued the honey suckle hives. also last year Jen managed to see more swarms than mathematically possible out of her few hives. And we can't for get JP the The Man, Who is obviously so busy collecting swarms and doing cutouts that he hasn't had time to edit and post his successes from this year yet.
I enjoy the success and the posting that you all do with your photos and videos. Even Iddee's that amount to a sentence in chat "Had to go out and pick up bees today."

@Apis:

Blue not only catches swarms, he also narrates to music about his techniques.  His videos are classic in the sense of: "a picture is worth a thousand words."  But, in Blues case it is more than a picture.  It is a video make up of hundreds of pictures with background music.  I realize we have other great swarm catchers and beekeepers, but Blue's videos set him apart.

You mentioned Iddee, and I have to admit I like the way he and the other NC folks speak.  If only Iddee could be more positive about his methods.  :):):)  I worry about him becoming wishy-washy.  NOT
