-
That is a top of the line model right there!!!

Yes, she is beautiful. I don't think the males get that big.

"That is a top of the line model right there!!!"
..................... :D :D :D
okay mikey, what type of snake is that?
i sometimes wish snakes could winter well in sub zero weather during winter months up here..........our four wheeler is once again in the shop for mice damage, after all we do to stop the little.........nevermind!
-
Had to tear apart the lawnmower for the same reason River... At least they ain't in the hives....
-
i tell ya zweef, i am so done with the mice, the last couple years, no matter what we do, the mice just drive us............
yep, had them in the mower, and whatever crevice of equipment they want to nest in. drives me.....
again this year, the mice got into the clutch housing, and i don't know where else. we run this thing all through winter. i fired the 4 wheel horse up well over 2 months ago......you know the sound, hard to start, shouldn't have been, grinding, clunk, clunk, i didn't hear the squealing, someone else did......... EXPLETIVES.............oh wait, no it was, oh darn, shucks........... :D :D :D
redwing motorsports told me (and some of my neighbors) mice problems were nuts this year? why? a little warmer winter? one of my neighbors took out his antique corvette for a spin, tooling down the the highway, turned on the defrost and three mice came out of the dash?!...........well that's better than hauling bees in a stinky buick............ :D
we use bait year round, an antifreeze bucket going into winter, AND moth balls placed all over it. we house the 4 wheeler in a small concrete based garage. i think we are going to have to winter it somewhere else, although we sure enjoy using it in the snow months.

Is it time for a, dare I say it, CAT(S)? :o
I DO NOT want a cat, but after last fall and winter's mice, I almost caved in. I don't want a litter box. I also don't think it would be fair to the neighbors to have a cat roaming the neighborhood. We already have some of those.
I would rather have Mikey's mouse trap.
-
Nope.. I have two outside cats, they dont seem to help the mice problem.. After wife left I stopped feeding them as heavily as she did, hoping they WOULD start hunting more.. I have seen half eaten frogs, birds and one small snake.. still have mice problems.
However... since the cats have figured out how to use the dog door, they BOTH sneak in the garage and snuggle with Knitro the bee dog, and I have not honestly seen a mouse in the garage, which is unusual..
I use the bait bars around our stored vehicles etc.. I toss a dozen of them all around.. the only thing that seems to do is kill the mice INSIDE the things I want to keep them out of...
-
Agreed on the bait bars working, but the location being less than desirable! Bakers - sounds like the neighborhood cats aren't doing their job!
EDIT : cats not mice (thanks Apis!)

A beautiful snake...What kind is it?
-
It's a black rat snake.

Have one or two around my place, my wife wanted me to get rid of it and I asked if she rather have mice or rats or the snake, the black snake stated after I told her it was a good one, not as large as that one though.

Coming back from a bee yard yesterday i thought it was a stick laying on the black top road and ran over it. It didn't sound right when i went over it and backed up, it was about a 4 ft. black snake . I didn't back up over it, but it was in bad shape so i shot it, it still bothers me to think about it. :-[ Jack

Have those here as well, but I didnt think they were the rat snake because they are, like the one pictured BLACK with no markings. I was always under the assumption they were black racers?
-
Like the other lazy said, I think we call that snake a black racer. We have them here. They are more prevalent in East Texas.
-
The snake has a white belly, black on top as ya can see, what ya can't see is the white freckles, about in the middle, that run lateral ,not as pretty as pine snake, but still beautiful .

Mikey,
I like the way you think! :)
