I intend on posting a description of my first 10 weeks so far as its been action packed and full of learning but for tonight I will just share ( brag ) about the results.
I actually thought I was 4 months or so into this but I looked at the date that I took a picture of my first 2 hives right after the nucs were installed and it was April 3rd. I might be off by one week FYI ??
So 10 weeks later starting with 2 5 frame nucs I just extracted 26 12oz jars of honey!!!!
Unbelievable!! I had no idea this could all happen this fast
Lotsa lotsa fun!
Thanks for all the tips so far

Wow. I'm impressed. For now I'm just trying to learn all that I can and build my bees up to make it through the winter. My primary interest was in helping the bee population. The honey part will come later and hopefully I'll know lots more by then. But I like hearing how you're doing. And you're so modest about your accomplishments. Not the bragging type...right??

Correct I like to remain calm and mention things in passing : )
You bring up a good point though that I want to discuss with my mentor regarding winter honey stores. I am in east central Florida so we have very mild winters. I am not sure if or how hard our winters are on them. I think we actually have stuff blooming through a majority of our winter down here.
Anyways very interesting and rewarding hobby so far ........ Now I have to go to my real job darn it!

Not bragging? Those of us up here may see that a little differently.

I'm up in Ohio....close to Cleveland and we can get some harsh weather. So that's why the girls have to be well established.
