Post by: mamapoppybee on July 09, 2016, 02:16:30 pm
I have a new queen ladies and gents and best of all this little gal is a robust layer. So now for the question part do i being in okiehoma still have time to do a split? as i said she is a robust layer, even saw what looked to me like the drawing of another queen cup, honey is being pilled away by these gals so i pulled frames and can use in split if happens plus hive numbers look amazing.  An cue the advise.

I don't know your season there, but I would still do a split up here if honey wasn't a priority.

I would say split if they have enough honey to share between the two. I dont like to feed sugar syrup and if splitting meant greatly reducing the food, i probably wouldnt do it. Down here in north Texas, they're not going to bring a whole lot more in.
