Title: First Trap Out
Post by: gtrr4 on July 15, 2016, 07:38:57 pm
Got a call from a lady who lives next to a school and she's worried about the bees that are in her tree will sting the school kids.  So Trap out it is.  She was not home when I gof there so I was unsure if shed be ok with a bunch of screws in her tree.  So I did the best I could without harming the tree.  (First pics)  Few days later she's worried about the box calling with upcoming storms, she said to not to worry about hurting the tree.  So I came back with the right hardware....and it had already fallen.  But nothing was damaged and already some calls drawn out and 1 capped.  So everything went back together and I will go back tomorrow with another frame of eggs and swap them out.

Not an easy trap-out for sure. I kinda like the position of the catch box in the first pic better, it seemed closer to  the base of the cone, but I guess you can only do so much way up there. :goodjob:

When I can't get the entrance of the trap out box next to the base of the cone I make them a "bridge" out of a stick or small piece of lumber. Seems to work every time. Try it and see, they seem to pick up on the idea themselves pretty quickly.

I did have a piece of wood initially.  I think why I didntbput it back was because I was rushing at the end....big storm was coming.  I think it let loose about 5 mins after I packed up.  I will get one there next trip.

Thanks for the pics gtrr4. These trap outs are really cool - I hope I get a shot at one someday.
