Just do it........ Paint it yellow and black (camouflaged) and hide it behind the honey house, your wife will never know.
-
You wouldn't buy it if I were there. I would already have it, and resell it at about 3500.
-
1800 can is only 1388 usd. Maybe its time to visit Perry for a week He could use the help setting up his honey house while you are their.
-
Wish I could. I have an 800 for sale now that doesn't run. I'm asking 2200.
-

I assume you mean the 800 tractor? Is it anything particularly rare? Power steering and rebuilt motor sounds good though.
-
Rare, No. Parts readily available. Very nice tractor.
-
I'm with Iddee. That tractor would bring four grand in my area. Nice clean ones with good paint bring eight to 10 thousand bucks. They make real good tractors for gardening and mowing. That little tractor will really do a nice job with a five foot shredder.

Your son could probably mow a few vacant lots and small pastures and make some bucks.
-
Those old fords are a solid buy. They don't lose value if cared for.

That brings back memories. My dad had a red and gray Ford tractor. My sister and I would ride on the fenders. One day we were on the fenders and he was pulling discs on the back. We were headed to a field, I suppose. He hit a bump and my sister and I went flying. He caught my sister, who had tire burns across her chest. He couldn't get me in time and I ended up under the rear wheel. I remember being under the wheel and looking back at those discs. My next thoughts were of the look on Dad's face as he was running, carrying me to the house. He was yelling at my Mom, "I've killed her, I've killed her!"
I was fine. My pelvis must have taken the weight. Rubber bones I guess. My sister would have surely been crushed.
None of this may make logical sense. It's my memory of the incident after 55+ years.
-
I think she must have already slapped you silly or you would of already bought it.   Jack

116,368 were made, 1954 to 1957. $2273 new in 1957, 40hp.
Ford 800 with front blade, good paint and rubber in PA. USA $3495.
That is about average in my area too. You can buy a newer (1965 up) thousand series ford diesel tractor for $4000.00 in very good shape with a front loader here.

-
Around our area (Eatonville, WA), we have several folks that seem to put thousands into a restore and sell them for pennies on what they put into them. I have though about picking up an old-timer for fun.
I currently have a Kubota L3830 with the loader and rear attachments. I also use the two John Deere D1xx series lawn mowers with trailers to move things around.
Every guy needs a tractor.
-
I know it is hard to think of a "toy" as an investment, but this old tractor is worth more than the asking price. I think it is actually a good investment. For sure, it can't depreciate. It would bring three grand where I live.

I Have old tractors it is one of my hobbies. from 1938 Massey Harris 101R to a 1957 555 diesel about 22 old Massey, Then there is the 1961 Allis D 17 and a 1965 Ford 5000 gas.
I don't intend to sell them, who ever administers the will can do that.
1951 Massey 44.

I sure wouldn't sell one of those old beauties. We had a tractor like the one in the picture.

I'm actually looking for something like that right now. The gasser 2000 played out last year. I have to have one to feed with on the ridge, no electric. She was a piece of juck, been wrecked etc. But she would start below zero. Love to find another, been checking craigslist. Yes Perry, youd find a lot of uses for that sweety.
-
Check out these Ford 3000 tractors, May even be one in your area.

I like the 3000 up tractors, have live power and some are diesel even.

Nice link Al
Here is one in Quebec with every thin a Perry needs. This is a winter business opportunity. Winter snow removal! Parking lots driveways You could make enough the first winter to pay it off. With the cab you are out of the elements.

Thanks for the link Al. It seems those old Ford's can be bought cheaper than I thought. We have a local feed and seed company that allows people to sell equipment on their lot. He charges a six percent commission for the use of his lot and some of his people help sell the equipment. Those old tractors sell for more money than the ones in Al's link. The old clunker tractors bring three grand, and some nice rebuilt tractors with good paint bring up to 10 grand. An acquaintance of mine paid nine thousand dollars for a really nice looking old Ford. It was "parade quality" paint, but it didn't have a cab. This fellow is not an easy mark, so I thought they were much higher.

I still think this old tractor is a good buy, make that a great buy.
-
Some of the tractors listed on tractor house sales site are crazy expensive. My brother just bought a 1963 Massey Ferguson 65 diesel that looks good, cheaper than he can have the injection pump and injectors rebuilt for his original 65.
Now he has a running tractor and one for parts. I will tell you that old tractor collecting has gotten pricey in the last 10 years. People go to those old tractor shows and their once $50.00 fence row queen with a seized engine is now $1000.00.

fence row queen with a seized engine

Thanks guys for the links. I've been traveling checking out tractors for the past two mornings and bailing all evenings. It's raining after I finished, needed it.
Been looking at 5-6 thousand fords/newhollands for a backup/feeding tractor. This tractor looking sure does eat up a lot of time.
-
Fence row queen. Has been pulled out of the way into a fence row when it quit running, Has sat there at least 5 years with no cover on the exhaust and transmission shifter boot shot.
Get a seized engine full of rust and nuts mice stored in there and a transmission full of water, parts robbed off for other tractors too.

There must be something I'm missing here. The price has now dropped to $1350! A rebuilt engine, and still no one is biting?

If you ever want a tractor, you better get over there and check it out. If he isn't lying, it's a 3500 USD tractor.
-
The price is getting closer to what it would fetch here in Michigan.
About 1200 US dollars here.

It may be worth my time to travel to Michigan and buy me an old diesel Ford. I wonder what the shipping for approximately 1,400 miles would be?

I think my friend paid 3500 to have a Ford 7000 and a case back hoe front loader tractor shipped to Washington.

I have found those 8N and 9Ns sell for less in country with big ag, more in hill country as they are very agile in rough terrain. They are perfect for hobby farms and truck farm operations. I have used them around here to mow and rake hay in small fields. They run on gas and I'm more inclined to diesel, but for what they are they are a very good buy.
-
I saw a red Ferguson for sale for $2,200.00. It look good and had good paint. That's all I know about the tractor, as I did not stop and look at it.

Red Fergusons came about as a result of the merger with Massey Harris in 1953 and still only had the Ferguson name which happened some time around 1957 when they became Massey Ferguson.

I've kind of let up on my Farmall collection? I need to go through a super A and a M farmall, my 3 brothers like to help with the tractor restoring. Will probably fire up the wood stove in the shop this winter and start in on them, we have a lot of fun. Jack
-
Ad says gas tank needs cleaned.. so is it actually running? I would find out.
I would have to have 2K minimum before I would consider selling my 1943 Ferguson.. Un restored, as is.. I cut the upper fields with it about every two weeks... NEW rear rubber and original front rubber that is falling off the cords... Not that I care where I use it, so long as they still hold air...
-
I just saw a Ford 1100 with a shredder attached to it for sale. I was too busy to stop and look, but I may go by and pick it up. It looks like it would fit in the back of my Escalade, pun intended, but it is tiny. It appeared to have good paint and tires. How much is it worth?
