- 135.8 degrees in east antarctic..
Bet that gets some Ice growing! At those temps you could eat cabbage and then use the gas bubbles for golf balls!
-
LOL :D Oh my gosh, LazyBkpr, with an imagination like that - you should write children's books!
-
lazy, are you just looking that stuff up so your sub zero temps don't seem so bad? also, what DO YOU DO in iowa to entertain yourself.....hmmm, on second thought, never mind, i don't want to know.... :D
-
He'll answer when you tell us what you do to entertain yourself in Wisconsin (when your hillbilly neighbours aren't entertaining you)..

I remember Rb called them walnuts and was getting rid of them with a golf club. Jack
-
jack, i do that in the summer, walnut golfin'.....kinda' fun, don't have to bend over, and it works...... :D
perry, what do i do?......well i try not to get the 4 wheel horse stuck somewhere in the snow...i do like to build some large size type snow ladies......a lot of work though. i usually have to have some sort of ramp on the 2nd body part to get it on and the head on top.......but it get's a lot of laughs. i drug a big downed pine tree down the road to a neighbors house while him and his wife were at work, and planted it in a snow bank in their front yard.......it was a stinker to get in the snow and stand up by itself..... :D
another neighbor, (who is a jerk)......i planted a number of 'for sale' signs in snow banks along his property for his home and his business while he was in hawaii, and one at the entrance to our country road..........i guess his voice mail and email was sorta blowing up.......but so was he........ :D

LOL! We usuallyset the cooler and lawn chairs up then plink the walnuts with a .22.. well, we did before our president decided to buy up all the ammo.. Oh dont worry I saved plenty, hoping he decides to come get that in person.
As for what I do in the wintertime?? no EVIL smiley?? hehe, I go work in the wood shop or big shop on trucks etc where its WARM.. AFTER the wife gets aggravated with me makin puppy eyes and glares at me while pointing to the door of course.

I woke up to a balmy +18 F this morning. that is the warmest overnight we've had in a while.
On a sunnier note, with all the cold temps across the nation, and many areas seeing cold that do not get cold, think of the knockdown of ticks, mites and maybe hive beetle populations that may be happening. There may be other diseased wildlife out there that may meet their demise over the winter and provide more room for healthy stock.
This extended cold is good for apples and stone fruits around here. It sends them into a good dormancy. Some of the winters of recent past have not provided an extended cold to properly set the clocks. As long as we have a normal spring without a late hard freeze, we could flourish with some good crops.

This just in from my wife's Aunt and her husband who live in Barrie Ontario.
"I believe you are having just as miserable a winter as we are here. Lots of snow and cold weather, in fact this is the worst weather we have had since we moved here 29 years ago. Sure hope summer will be better than this. We are in hibernation for now and don't go out except to buy groceries or visit friends in the neighbourhood."
That about says it all. I'm sure DMLinton, Marbees and Crofter will concur?

Concur I would. I have not seen this kind of weather since the 70's. For the past several years, we might get one or two days of brutally cold weather over the Winter and maybe something resembling a small scale blizzard but that was it. Four or five years ago, there were people out and about in shorts and t-shirts for a period in February.
I, too, am in a hibernation mode of sorts - I get to work from home mostly so I only open the door to let the dog out for a minute or to go look after my chickens.

Got about 6 inches of drifting snow overnight; it did warm up a bit from the deep-20 C. temperatures though. I just shoveled a few paths and around the barn doors and gates. Will have to do some meditating before I get the tractor going and do the whole yard. Yes this winter is much tougher than we have been accustomed to the last 20 years or so. We got spoiled and now are paying back!

Temperature went up to -5 C, but it's going back to deep freeze tonight. Another week of the same weather.
My dermatitis is raging  Limited activity, can't work on my machines stored in unheated shop, can't make
candle molds, 23 C required for rubber to set properly, have no more than 18 C in the garage....
I think I'll go for a swim, got heated pool in the building i never use. :)

"I think I'll go for a swim"........like this marbees...... :D
